A few facts to arm thoughtful people when confronting gun defenders
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | October 1, 2015 | Kevin Benz

All the gun defenders once again have come out to spout their meaningless cliches defending the undefendable.

Here are a few facts, however, to help arm thoughtful people in arguing with the charitably uninformed masses:

Non-negotiable as in don’t even bother.

That's the sad conclusion I've come to as well. There isn't any point discussing a matter when your opponents begin from false premises and insist the discussion proceed on the basis of lies. No more debating. The answer is NO.

“This is the 264th mass shooting this year. Yes, 264 mass shootings in less than a year.”

And this is the 10,000th article about these mass shooters.

I propose a “High-capacity” journalism ban - ONE article on the shooting and that is it - the shooter is no more than a footnote in history - no “continuing coverage” to glorify the creep.

Mercer was obsessed with how much notoriety the other shooters received.

Does anyone in the media make a connection?

Actually not true; Switzerland & Israel are both more heavily armed when you consider military weapons kept at home. Civilian versus military weapons in the home is a difference without a distinction.

“Every 6 hours in America more people die from gun violence than were killed by terrorists in all of 2014.”

In the prior sentence, the author says “33,000” are killed per year via gun violence.

Assuming the author lives on a planet similar to earth which has a 24 hour day, there are 1460 six-hour periods in a 365 day year. If 33,000 people are killed in 1460 periods, that means that no more than 22 people were killed by terrorism in 2014.

And if you believe that, you are a flaming innumerate idiot.

All my life (I am 55) there have been many laws written in this country regarding guns. I would say that 99.5% of these have been aimed at restricting their use. At the passage of each and every one of these laws, we were told that they would make us safer. My question, if this is true, why then, are there so many more mass shootings?

Yep.

In Switzerland for example every male over the age of 18 and or head of household is required by law to own a firearm. Yet they have a lower murder rate than Norway or England who has a total gun bans.

Other questions to ask “thoughtful people” are: How many shootings occurred on gun free zones? Why do you think the shooter picked gun free zones?

Yeah, I've noticed too that shootings rarely occur at police stations and gun shows.

“This is the 264th mass shooting this year. Yes, 264 mass shootings in less than a year.”

I find this to be extremely misleading.

When most think of a mass shooting, we think Columbine, Norway, Dunblane, Aurora Batman Movie, Sandy Hook School, and recently, the Charleston, SC racist killings.

Each and every one of the mass shootings I've mentioned is horrible and terrible, because they were INTENDED to kill people, and not as a crime, or to show how bad ass so don't muck with me the shooter-thug acts.

The vast majority of the 264 mass shootings the San Fran writer is referring to are criminal acts done by bank robbers, drug dealers, thugs and other under-worlders. I'm sorry, but if some drug dealers have a shoot out, and twenty are killed, and even innocents killed as unlucky in the line of fire victims, then that is NOT a mass shooting, but a criminal shooting with more than one casualty.

Mass shootings are still fairly rare, but because "no gun" zones are growing, so is the brazenness of the koo-koos who simply want to kill.

Why? Because liberal laws and liberal logic drive people crazy. And living in cramped rat cage style environments encourage violence. And the libtards know it. They are insane and they want to tweak everyone into warped and/or violent behavior. It gives them the excuse then to do the same to us, only under the guide of attemtping to control us for our own good and enacting even more idiotic draconian restrictions.

Let's fix a few “Armed Facts” in this work of fiction:

This is the 264th mass shooting this year. Yes, 264 mass shootings in less than a year. Uhmmmm, not even half that phone is number is true.

In a recent study , the FBI identified 160 active shooter incidents that occurred in the United States between 2000 and 2013. https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2014/september/fbi-releases-study-on-active-shooter-incidents/pdfs/a-study-of-active-shooter-incidents-in-the-u.s.-between-2000-and-2013

You mean to tell me there have been more mass shootings/active shootings than in 13 years? Horseshit.

Firearms kill 33,000 people every year.  More like 13,000 but, the facts be damned and more than 70% of those were criminal on criminal “incidents”.

Every 6 hours in America more people die from gun violence than were killed by terrorists in all of 2014. If a disease like Ebola was killing as many people as guns there would be rioting in the streets to cure it. Well, there doesn't seem to be a cure for hyperbolic stupidity.

In the last 30 years there has never been a single instance of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy intent on killing a bunch of people... 30 years.

Do hot chicks count?

In the last 50 years, half of the world's mass shootings have occurred in the U.S. More baloney. There have been just as many in Europe.

The U.S is the most armed country in the world.  By shear numbers, yes. But, as a percentage of population? Israel might have even more armed citizens and the Swiss most certainly do, since it is in their national law.

We have as many guns as people and 1/3 of the populace owns at least one. Well, that's true.

Nearly half of all civilian guns in the world are held by Americans. Fooking stupid and not even remotely true.

Besides bombs and chemical weapons, guns are the most efficient killing machines. Bombs and chemical weapons are illegal. Well, so is killing and assault but, that never stopped some types.

The second amendment was written by slave-holding men who carried muskets to protect themselves from tyranny and from their slaves. A musket took over 10 seconds to reload for a single shot. So?

The second amendment does guarantee the right to bear arms for a "well-regulated" militia. Don't forget the part where “The Right of The People to Keep and Bear Arms, Shall Not be Infringed.

Thanks for playing.

“Civilian versus military weapons in the home is a difference without a distinction.”

A rifle is a military weapon, whether on the battlefield or in the home.

Benz wrote that “In the last 30years there has never been a single instance of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy intent on killing a bunch of people...30 years.”

Living in a delusional world indicated that Benz needs some mental health intervention.

One police officer killed to Islamic jihadists who were intend on carrying out a massacre of the audience in Garland, Texas who were attending a Pam Geller affairs.

A woman police office at Ft. Hood stopped Major Hassan’s murderous rampage.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of such examples of an armed person, law enforcement or civilian, who have stopped murderous rampages, and were often the only line of defense against the killer(s).

One website to view for information/statistics on this (Reading this Mr. Benz?), is John Lott’s “Crimeresearch.org”.

Benz lives in Austin, Tx, one of the liberal ghettoes of delusion down that way. If he lived in the poor area of Houston, he’d be armed to the teeth, or, if not, dead.
