Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Friday the United States should establish no-fly zones and sanctuaries along Syria's border with Jordan and Turkey, and warn aggressors, specifically Russian President Vladimir Putin, that they violate those buffers at their own risk.
Campaigning in New Hampshire, the Republican presidential hopeful said the U.S. must send a message that military retaliation is a guarantee, not an idle threat, if conditions are not met.
"You enter that no-fly zone, you enter at your own peril," Kasich said. "No more red lines, no more looking the other way. If any hostile aircraft should enter that, there will be a great consequence to them."

And should Islamic State extremists attempt to enter the sanctuaries, Kasich said, the U.S. and regional partners, including Saudi Arabia, should be ready for ground combat to repel them.

We should be telling the “Free Syrian Army” (assuming the darn thing actually exists and isn’t just a scam to funnel US money and weapons to ISIS) to suck up to Assad and the Sov, er, Russians, and WELCOMING the Russkis into Syria.
At least they won’t give a darn about stupid RoEs that protect ISIS and they’ll shoot any NGO types that provide them support. With a little Russian style ruthlessness we might finally get this crap cleared up.

I am not so sure that Putin and Zer0 are not on the side. Removal of the missiles in Eastern Europe. Working against Netanyahu from be beginning. Supporting the Muslim Brotherhood ousting a friendly, stable government in Egypt. No retaliation on the “red line” drawn in Syria. Barely a whimper from Zer0 when Putin took Crimea. Working with Putin’s buddies in Iran to reach a nuclear deal clearly NOT in our national security interest. He has been steadily degrading our military and its readiness. No real effort to thwart ISIS. You know, he has more “flexibility” during his second term.
