Oregon shooting: 13 legally purchased weapons found in gunman's cache
The Manchester Guardian ^ | October 2, 2015 | Lauren Gambino and Ben Quinn with Jason Wilson in Roseburg

Roseburg grapples with grief and indignation as Obama’s call for US gun control collides with horrifying new details of another mass shooting.

A cache of 13 weapons has been discovered in the possession of gunman who opened fire on a writing class at a community college in rural Oregon on Thursday, killing nine people and injuring seven in the deadliest mass shooting in the state’s history.

Seven weapons were recovered at the gunman’s home, in addition to the six weapons that were recovered on the campus of Umpqua Community College, Celinez Nunez, of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), told reporters during a Friday morning press briefing. A bulletproof jacket and five extra magazines were also recovered at the scene in Roseburg, Oregon, where residents, students, survivors and families were grappling with grief and indignation.

All 13 weapons were purchased legally by the shooter or a family member in the last three years, Nunez said, as a national debate reignited over long languishing gun control reforms. The Douglas County Sheriff’s department said on Twitter that investigators recovered five pistols and one rifle from the crime scene.

Douglas county sheriff John Hanlin said during the press conference that officials were still working to notify victims next-of-kin and said the medical examiner’s office was expected to release their names and brief biographies Friday afternoon.

Hanlin has refused to name the gunman out of deference to the victims and their families, and chastised the media for reporting his name, saying it “glorified” a murderer....

What he did with the guns was, for sure, evil. But simply owning a lot of guns should never be a crime. And the government has NO RIGHT to know what kinds of guns, or how many, are out there. Our guns are the ONLY thing protecting us from the hard tyranny OZero and his ilk wish upon all of us.

If most law-abiding citizens carried, mass shootings would stop. If anything, we should be encouraging gun ownership — and open-carry everywhere.

Total fail Sheriff. Symbolism over reality.

But wasn’t what he did illegal? And it didn’t stop him from doing what he did.

All these killings are not because there aren’t enough laws to keep law breakers from breaking them, rather, it’s because of our decaying morals brought on by moral relativism. I bet these things were much rarer prior to the 60’s.

... a national debate reignited over long languishing gun control reforms.

So predictable. Instead of being a gun-free campus, what do you think might have been the outcome if the campus allowed conceal and carry (CC) on campus? It's interesting that those states that allow CC have lower murder rates from shootings than those that don't. Wonder why that is.

Seems to me that there was an incident that involved a Middle-Eastern student at one of the UNC campi that plowed his vehicle into a crowd of students, attempting to kill as many as possible in the name of “jihad”.

His driver’s license was obtained legally; his insurance was obtained legally; his vehicle was obtained legally.

Yet, here in Oregon, the focus is on the legally obtained firearms.

From whence do the police get the right to have guns?
The U.S. 2nd Amendment mentions
“people” and “militia” but not “police”

The police are not militia.

Police get the right to carry weapons as an organized law enforcement from the people. Cf. NY city police have to apply to NY State legislature to be formed 1845.

As much for the police, so much more for the people from whence the police came.

I bet these things were much rarer prior to the 60’s.

And when much less did occur, they were shocking to the point of sobering us up, not moving us further to the left.

Charles Whitman was an early crazed mass shooter in 1966. That was a few years after the Supreme Court found that God was an "unconstitutional intruder" in our public schools.

Connection? You'd better believe it!

PREDICTIONS:

1) This will be done by someone on psychiatric meds.

2) The gun or guns will have been obtained by legal means.

3) Disarmists will use this event to push gun control that will in no way address or prevent this situation.

4) This will have occurred in a ‘gun free zone’.

.....and Laz goes 4 for 4.

As these mass shootings continue, I become more convinced that Obama is taking a page from Hitler's playbook and orchestrating every single one of these events to promote his gun confiscation agenda.

This is perhaps the most cunningly evil persona we have seen in modern times, and only history and Heaven at the Great White Throne judgement will reveal the full extent of the evil being perpetrated on America by this fraud.

If he obtained the firearms legally, where is the problem? Making more laws to make it “more illegal” to buy a firearm is too moronic to even contemplate.
