Towns and cities across Germany are struggling to find accommodation for the tens of thousands of refugees streaming into the country.
A woman in Germany is being evicted from her home of 23 years to make way for asylum-seekers, in the second such case to emerge.
Gabrielle Keller has been given until the end of the year to leave her flat in the small southern town of Eschbach, near the border with France. The flat belongs to the local municipality, which says it is needed to house refugees.
I think its a scandal to throw tenants out of their apartments, the 56-year-old Ms Keller told SWR television. I cant see the sense of it.
Ms Kellers case follows that of Bettina Halbey, a nurse who is being evicted from her home of 16 years in the town of Nieheim, hundreds of miles to the north.
Mario Schlafke, the mayor of Eschbach, says the town had no choice but to ask Ms Keller to leave. The council hasnt taken a frivolous decision, he told Welt newspaper. The alternative would have been to set up beds in the gym.

This is all about property rights.
She doesn’t own her residence. The city she lives in does. THEY get to make the call on who occupies it. The only claim on the property is that which she is permitted by the city. No more, no less.
Lebensraum.
RE: This is all about property rights.
We all know that. However this raises the question of — Who should the German government be taking care of as its first priority, CITIZENS or FOREIGNERS?
And BTW, now that she’s being evicted, are there arrangements to help her relocate to another place?
RE: Lebensraum.
Für wen?
The German government gets to make that choice, in accordance with what their voting citizenry will tolerate before voting elected leaders out of office.
My question would be whether the EU can still impose this sort of thing on the Germans ( in the name of humanitarianism) should Merkel and her government get booted by the voters.
The Europeans have dug this hole for themselves. Over several decades. No one to blame but themselves. We’ll see if they can pull themselves out or not ... and whether this will be a lesson to us ‘muricans’ as we ponder what to do about the somewhat shallower but similar hole WE have been digging ourselves into.
Well her first problem is it is not “her home”.
Does she have a lease? If so, when is the term up?
Not that I condone this but I prefer precise language.
It is her home——it’s just not her property.

Ping!
Imprecise language is used by the media to distort the actual facts. I stand by my post.

“I stand by my post”

And I stand by mine. The word “home” does not mean ownership.
This is why I love FR. Two adults can agree to disagree-—and move on.

What’s going on under that red blanket ?
Moochers complaining about moochers. Gotta love the modern welfare state.
The flat belongs to the local municipality, which says it is needed to house refugees. ... well, while I'm not in favor of giving her the boot, the landlord has the right to do as it likes.... this is a little different than what the title implies, basically, it sounds like they've decided not to renew her lease.
But Wait....
The council hasnt taken a frivolous decision, he told Welt newspaper. The alternative would have been to set up beds in the gym. ....or, you could tell the Muslim invaders to Go Fish. But that would require a spine, since picking on older single women likely won't get you decapitated.
I had a quick email exchange with a Swedish friend yesterday. I should just copy and paste it but the jist of it was, "Everything is going great. I start my new job on October 17th (you give 3 months notice there so you can dick around for months on end). Spain was wonderful, spent four weeks on Costa del Azahar"
What, me worry?
“This is a good place for a “Stick-UP!”
Must smell nice in there
