The owners of a Portland-area bakery are refusing to pay $135,000 in state-ordered damages to a same-sex couple who were denied service.

The Kleins have filed an appeal of the ruling and are defying the order to pay. They're claiming financial hardship although crowdfunding efforts have brought in over $500,000 on their behalf, The Oregonian reported.
The couple closed the Gresham store in 2013 and operate the business from home.

But the resulting problem in a "nation of laws" is that the meaning of laws is watered down - laws and are seen as arbitrary so more and more ordinarily law-abiding folk ignore them (and with good reason).
The end result is chaos, which suits Obozo just fine, but doesn't bode well for our future as a nation of laws.

Charles Murray, in his book “By The People”, outlines ways to act out civil disobedience to certain laws. At the fed level they don’t have enough investigators and lawyers to mount a defence to a a full force. I think he avoids this type of case as it has a halo. too much popular support for the poor gays etc. but he also outlines the creation of a “Madison Fund” to help fund the lawsuits or administrative order as in this case. it is only admin not a article III court.
