Only on The Brody File: Religious Leaders Meet, Pray with Donald Trump
The Brody File/CBN News ^ | 9/29/2015 | David Brody

Posted on 09/29/2015 5:39:09 PM PDT by LS

GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump met and prayed with about 40 religious leaders and pastors in his Trump Tower office Monday afternoon.

Among the attendees were televangelists Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, conservative evangelical Christian Pastor David Jeremiah, TBN religious broadcaster Jan Crouch, Pastor Paula White, Jews For Jesus Rabbi Kirt Schneider and Pastor Darrell Scott.

The meeting lasted roughly two and a half hours and ended with pastors gathering around Trump and laying their hands on him in prayer. Kenneth Copeland, Paula White, and Rabbi Schneider prayed during that time, asking the Lord to give the GOP presidential frontrunner wisdom, stability and knowledge necessary to pursue this endeavor. They also prayed for America and for God's will to be done.

During the meeting, he talked about his Christian faith. At one point he admitted that he may not have read the Bible as much as the pastors in the room. As the conversation continued, a few of the ministers implored Trump to tone done some of his harsh rhetoric.

Pastor Scott, who was present in the meeting and is neutral in this presidential race, said Trump humbly received the message by nodding his head, listening attentively and not being combative at all.

“He has a very high regard and a very deep respect for men and woman of the cloth,” Scott tells The Brody File.

As for additional subject matter, Trump told the religious leaders and pastors that he will be a strong supporter of Israel and that defeating ISIS would be a strong part of his agenda. He also discussed trade, balancing the budget, eliminating the deficit and tax reform.

As for faith issues, he talked about how religious liberty and Christianity is under attack in America and that there is a lot of religious intolerance for Christianity in today’s society.

The subject of race relations also came up when some of the African-American pastors in the room mentioned that there seems to be some detachment between him and the black community. While citing some polls to the contrary, Scott told The Brody File that Trump agreed with the overall assessment and would try to do a better job.

Scott believes the GOP presidential frontrunner made headway during the meeting.

“I think Donald Trump changed the opinions of the African-American pastors that were in the room. They saw a side of him outside of the media depiction, and that they would give strong consideration in regards to supporting his candidacy."

For a lot of reasons---some of them quite valid---people can discount this. But at the very least it seems to me that no one can now deny that Trump is a serious candidate, starting to touch all the important "interest groups" on the conservative side.

For the second time (Voter Values Summit meeting with a black pastor), pastors have come away seeing a newer, humble side to Trump.

May he become more spiritual and less human.

Halleluyah! Let us too continue to pray for Trump. He needs our continued prayers.

Normal people like him. The press hates and attacks him. He has called them out for being hate filled, joy killing, ugly people. I’ve found myself think “oh thats Trump going after someone because they called him a name or wrote something unfavorable about him”. I now don’t think this is the case. He is fighting through tremendous static created by the establishment so as to effectively squelch his message that is rallying the American people.

Its been happing often of late Trump has the right answer before other even think to ask the correct questions.

I feel more positive about Trump this time around. He has everything it takes to put himself across despite the efforts of the media to take him out. And he has excellent business sense. I think he was in it last time for his own reasons, probably selfish. But this time I’m hoping he’s old enough to feel that he’s accomplished his successes in life, and now it’s time to serve his country.

We’ll see. But I don’t see anyone else in the running now who can compete with him and beat the Dems and the GOPe.

My top choice for VP would be Sarah Palin. She could give him the best and most trustworthy advice, and maybe follow after him in the White House.

I like Cruz, but we need someone like him in the Senate, as Majority Leader. And if the truth be told, he is not a natural born citizen. Just because the Dems cheat doesn’t mean that we should, too.

Professional Christians will exploit anything for money. Trump was nice to meet them but they are all about money as the collectors for gawd.

I don’t expect St. Paul. I want a Moses or Abraham, very very flawed men who were willing to be led. Just let us have someone willing to be led, Lord. Keep us away from the “perfect” ones.

And remember - the guy never took a drink, never smoked, military school ... the guy is actually probably more boring than Ben Carson - more of a church boy.

It's important to distinguish with Trump, what's act, and what's actually real. A guy who has worked his ass off his entire life, sleeps only a couple hours, no drinking ever (lost a brother to to it), never smoked.

He's a freaking church boy.

And partially seriously, partially to piss off the Trump Haters: "Blessed are the pure of heart" is a mistranslation. The proper translation is Blessed are the singular of heart - that is ... singularity of purpose, the true WYSiWIG.

He has his own Reverend Wright in Norman Peale.

No I don't think the guy is perfect, but he's pretty damn singular, simple, and frankly boring, simple INSIDE. Those are pretty strong on the resume for me.

As I said to someone else, we just saw the Pope here. No thanks. Don’t want a saint. I just want someone willing to be led.

We aren’t just trying to save jobs, the economy, etc...we need to save our culture. At least Trump isn’t afraid to be a Christian. Not ashamed of being a successful white male either.
