Jeb Bush’s poll numbers are terrible. So why aren’t we talking about them?
Washington Post ^ | 9/29/15 | Chris Cillizza

In April, one in every four likely Republican primary voters nationally said they would support Jeb Bush for president, according to an NBC-Wall Street Journal poll. Today, just 7 percent say the same. And, it's not just the NBC-WSJ poll; here's Bush's trend line since the start of the year:

-snip-

That's a remarkable — and remarkably steady — erosion of support unmatched by anyone still running for the Republican nomination. The only person to experience anything close to that sort of drastic drop-off was Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who ended his candidacy last week.

So, why is no one talking about Bush's struggles — particularly given that he is the best-known candidate in the field and was widely regarded as the front-runner when he entered the race in June? I put that exact question to some of the smartest minds in the Republican Party who aren't currently working for Bush or any of the other 14 announced candidates.

"Jeb’s strategy is predicated on his remaining the front-runner in the 'political insider' lane," said one longtime GOP operative who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the race candidly. "That is, when the field narrows and establishment Republicans look for an alternative to Donald Trump, Ben Carson or Carly Fiorina, Jeb is counting on being the most popular remaining item on the menu. But that assumption is not something the Bush campaign can count on. [Sen. Marco] Rubio has now eclipsed Jeb as the most popular remaining item on the menu."

“Bush vs Rubio? Really?”

Yes. It’s known as ‘a Mexican stand-off’.

I had to think about your premise. Would I endure a root canal if it meant getting rid of el Jefe?

Yes.

Yes, I would.

erosion of support unmatched by anyone still running for the Republican nomination.

He will keep running even if he is down to three decimals or has an IV plugged into him. The Establishment is waiting for a miracle - either Trump's mouth or some major gaffe to pull him down. Then the piles of money will flood the airwaves to pump life back into Jeb. Hopefully enough people are P'Oed enough to still ignore him.

Easy answer. The mainstream media wants Jeb! propped up and easy pickings for the Democrat nominee.

No different than how they “supported” McCain and Romney until after they got the nomination.

Because the plan was to have the election be between Hillary! and JEB! with Hillary winning. DNC and GOPe put a lot of time and money into this and they are not willing to let go.

¡Yeb! won’t give up until he starts losing primaries by embarrassing numbers.

He is still the choice of The Cheap Labor Express to prevent the citizens from stopping them.

I heard on satellite radio that at the Values Voters Summit Jeb garnered 7 votes. Not 7 percent but 7 votes total!

The really big mistake the GOPe is making by mustering all of its forces, including a platoon of nothing-burger candidates and a gaggle of phoney-conservative PACs, is that nuking TRUMP is a scorched earth policy. They do not appear to understand that any establishment candidate they might squeak through the primaries will lose in a landslide because they terminally p!ssed of 40% of their base, but also that they will lose the down-tickets across the board, including Congress, the Governors, and the State houses, because the base WILL stay home.

Yes, I know the money-people behind the GOPe won’t care because they’ve simply bought ALL the politicians on both sides of the aisle anyway, so THEY can’t lose no matter what happens, but you’d think that GOPe party apparatus and their other candidates WOULD care about losing. Perhaps the GOPe REALLY is the stupid party, after all.

Note to GOP establishment leadership: you have been warned. If one of your precious lying, cringing, sold-out, PC, DC insider GOP establishment scum who continuously stabs we American workers in the back is nominated, I promise you ARE going to lose and lose big time. In case you haven’t noticed, the great unwashed masses of your “base are in open revolt.

We elected you to majorities in both houses of Congress and you’ve done NOTHING to stop a single iota of Obama’s kommie, U.S.A-destroying agenda. Instead, all you’ve done is make excuses, pretended you were powerless when you were simply too frightened to wield your power and conducted kabuki theater which you though was fooling us.

Well, we DO actually know better. And if you want to take the whole party down in flames, why, we’ll be glad to help, because what you have now deserves to go down in flames, either with Trump or without him.
