Third GOP debate sets off wave of anxiety [no criteria, no undercatd debate]

The uncertain terms of the next Republican debate are setting off a wave of anxiety among middle and bottom tier campaigns, with several lashing out at the Republican National Committee for failing to provide clarity on how many candidates will appear on stage..

The campaigns fear the entry criteria for the Oct. 28 debate is being designed to reduce the number of candidates on stage for the third primetime debate -- a life-or-death matter for White House hopefuls on the bubble. While the RNC doesn’t set the rules, it does have a voice in working with the networks running the debates. The committee has not said how many candidates will be allowed into the primetime debate, which will be held in Boulder, Colorado, and broadcast on CNBC. Nor are there any indications there will be an undercard event, as there have been in the first two debate showdowns of the primary season

Romney got Obama re-elected. Enough said.

Exactly, he was a lemon of a candidate.

Maybe you shouldn’t vote if you put a lot of stock in these debates. Some are good debaters - others aren’t. It doesn’t measure how that person would perform as a president.

Levin is acting coy about who he is going to endorse, but everyone knows he will probably endorse Cruz - they are both constitutional lawyers and so it makes sense. It doesn’t matter to me, because I don’t vote for someone based on who endorses them. I listen to Mark’s show most of the time, but some days - it actually bores me. I don’t always agree with everything he says either.

That scenario would not work well for Trump.

Cruz, especially, and Carson are thoughtful in their comments and responses to attacks. Cruz has been saying the same things as Trump, but for much longer. He has also developed strategies for dealing with many of the big issues. Trump is popular for pointing out the obvious and having a well recognized name. When asked for specifics he just says he will hire “a guy” to handle that, which is what we have had for the last six years.

Think back to the ground Fiorina made up at the last debate and ask yourself if Cruz and Carson are better the she was. That side by side matchup would leave Trump dead last. It would show him to be a fake conservative.

I am all for that but I think Trump is at least smart enough not to put himself in that position.

yes and the gop rules are if you attend one unsanctioned debate you are barred from the rest ... he could have a very selective debate opposite evry gop one, and let’s see who wins...

Trump would do better developing a series of 30 minute infomercials to play before each debate. All on a couple specific topics informing America of it's myriad problems and how he proposes to solve them.

Am I the only one who hates these debates and considers them a waste of time? Just let the candidates go out on the campaign trail and address the voters in rallies or town hall meetings. No need for these stupid “moderators” to ask gotcha questions

They are worse than a waste of time. They help the enemy to pick our candidate.

Mark recently referred to Trump as a “good guy” on his show.

I agree. Most of these posters are low information folks who really have no clue. They just go off on something. It's like a version of Hee-Haw.

No, you're not. There are plenty of us realists out here who agree with you.

Wrong. And in Levin’s interview of Trump he sure seemed supportive.

He isn’t supporting Trump - Levin will come out for Cruz - but, he did say the other day he might endorse 2 people - so, we’ll see.

The point is, if Cruz never gets above 8, even with all his money, how long does he stay in?

I don’t know because I don’t have a crystal ball. I think he’ll hang in as long as possible. I want him on the Trump ticket. Trump/Cruz 2016

Ditch the undercard debate and cut the big show to 8 candidates or less.

Bump!
