A new poll by Zogby Analytics shows Donald Trump expanding his lead on the GOP field. Trump garnered 33 percent of the vote 20 points up on Dr. Ben Carson.
NBC 26 reported, via Free Republic:

A new poll conducted by Zogby Analytics after last week’s Republican presidential debate on CNN shows Donald Trump leading Dr. Ben Carson by 20 points.

According to the survey, conducted September 18-19, made up of 405 likely Republican primary/caucus voters nationwide, Trump garnered the support of 33 percent, which is an increase of 2 percentage points since Zogby’s previous poll. Dr. Ben Carson remains in second place, but dropped 3 points to 13 percent.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s support stayed flat at 9 percent, while support for former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina has grown from 2 percent to 7 percent.

The new poll shows Texas Senator Ted Cruz at 5 percent, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and Ohio Governor John Kasich all at 4 percent. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stands at 3 percent.

The recent Zogby poll is in contrast to a post-debate CNN/ORC poll showing Trump losing support, but still maintaining the top spot in the Republican field. In that survey, Trump garnered 24 percent support, down 8 points from earlier in September.

Not that new actually - we talked about the poll last weekend. But still good news for Trump.

Why would NBC 26 report via FR?

Funny, NBC was reporting yesterday that their newest poll shows Trump’s support “waning”. These polls are reported to influence voters, not report the current status of a candidate.

This is not a new poll, it came out on September 21. Hoft is just now writing about it because it was posted here again yesterday.

Also, Zogby polls are terrible. Even if you like what they’re saying, you’re much better off ignoring them. Zogby hasn’t put out a decent poll since 2004.

Brett Baier claimed last week that Zogby was a online Poll

Fox you say it isn't true.

Funny, NBC was reporting yesterday that their newest poll shows Trump’s support “waning”.

The two are not mutually exclusive. If Trump goes down, but #2 (Carson) goes down more, your support wanes but your lead still increases.

Fiorina's increase came largely at the expense of Carson.

These polls also show different classes of people (e.g. Republican voters vs. likely primary voters vs. historical primary voters).

Trump has 25% that belongs to him. He might also do well in open primary states because he appeals to some voters who are not uniformly liberal, but don't like the Republican brand. It remains to be seen if his numbers will go up as people drop out.

you have to figure out which of Zogby’s polls have had the extra sauce applied.. if not you can probably go with it if so then discount.. Since we can’t figure out when it’s been applied it’s a crap shoot.. he figured pretty close to two other reliable polls last week, next week he could be 10 points off

It's new enough. Seven days does not an old poll make.

Zogby polls are terrible

At this point in time they all are. The real polls start in March. Those are the polls I'm waiting for. Everything until then is background noise.

After ignoring their own poll 2 weeks ago showing Trump "gaining".

I don't know how it happened or how the GOP-E got my email address, but I got one of those "JEB!" emails yesterday asking for money.

I responded "Go F*** YOURSELF" followed by "GET THE F*** OUT OF MY EMAIL YOU A**HOLE"

Added the "JEB" top level domain to my spam list with a rule to send it back to them 1,000 times and delete it afterwards.

These GOP-E bastards!

I got a malware/phishing warning from McCaffee so I did’t go just to be safe.

I know nothing about that stuff. Does it give false signals sometimes?

All polls are getting less accurate. Fewer people have land lines, and fewer of those answer their phones. And they tend to be older people. Polls give you a broad picture, that’s all. Trump seems to have about a quarter to a third of the primary voters at this time. Whether it shows more towards one end or another probably just has to do with that particular sample, not any real movement. But over time if they all show the same pattern, it’s probably real.

“These polls are reported to influence voters, not report the current status of a candidate.”

I remember when California’s prop 187 - the anti-illegal immigration one that would’ve solved all the illegals problems - was voted on. the polls reported it being neck and neck all day. the results were that it passed in a landslide. haven’t trusted a poll since.

Fewer people have land lines, and fewer of those answer their phones.

******************

At one point in time that may have been a factor in polling accuracy. Damn near
everybody has a cell phone and that is becoming the easiest way to contact people.
The pollesters have to learn to adjust and I think they are doing it.

It’s illegal to use dialing machines on cell phone numbers.

Yep and I hope it stays that way. But pollsters have figured out ways to get cell phone
only users. It cost more and has to be done with a live human not a robo call machine.

These people are PAID to report news approved by their
leader/s, I’ve read there are a couple of fellows who
each morning and THEY determine the news we are to hear.
Years ago I read the same thing in the Readers Digest.
