How will the Church react if weekly donations start going to charities instead of the offering basket?

I have tried very hard to give this Pope the benefit of the doubt, taking into account where he is from and his life experiences. At this point, however, I am very, very disappointed.

I remember briefly hearing about he involvement of Naomi Klein as a consultant to the Vatican months ago ( http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jun/28/pope-climate-change-naomi-klein ), and not really thinking much about it. Now, when I look at it in detail in the context of the Pope’s comments about global warming (which he personally has no scientific background to assess), I’m appalled. This is an agenda-driven secular woman who’s also not a scientist, but is definitively anti-capitalism, and whose parents were apparently self-described ‘hippies’ who moved to Canada from the US during the Vietnam war. Her grandparents were at one point Communists. Why would he pick her to advise? What does this say?

I have watched over the past decades the decline in so much that was good in the world. Even the racism that I thought we’d gotten past is now back uglier than ever, with the arrow pointed more in the opposite direction than was the case in the days of MLK. I’m not even sure what my American citizenship means anymore, as I don’t really feel that anyone cares to know or represent what I personally think. Regarding Marxism and this Pope, he would do well to look back upon the suppression of Christianity in the Soviet-controlled countries before the fall of the USSR. He should be more concerned about the persecution of Christians that is occurring around the world than about what Naomi Klein might be telling him.

Noting that I cannot cast the first stone, Matthew 16:23 and Ephesians 4:14 apply to this worldly Pope imo.

That pope endorsed the Iran deal, the UN’s environmentalist goals and what amounts to a worldwide open-borders policy on refugees

Just, wow!

I don’t think he is influential at all; when I see somebody under 40 at Mass then I’ll concede he may have influence.

It is one thing to cheer someone who asks nothing of you; people can’t even be bothered to spend an hour per week in Mass (never mind financially supporting a parish). As with all liberal causes, lip service is easy (and free)...

He needs to shut up and go back to his safe little ‘country’ where no Muslim invaders are allowed.

WE SAW IN CUBA THE REAL POPE BERGOGLIO

In his first address in Philadelphia Pope Francis centered on freedom, but in Cuba Francis showed his hypocrisy and lack of morals when not a single time pronounced the words liberty or freedom. In Cuba we saw the real Pope Bergoglio. While the Pope brags to be the voice of the poor and the oppressed in Cuba he was the voice of the oppressors. Francis visited American prisoners in U.S.; but in Cuba the Pope didn’t want to be a witness to the world of the infra-human conditions in which the Cuban political prisoners live.

Francis beg for a meeting with Fidel Castro with was described by the Vatican as very friendly and familiar while he did not accept to receive a representation of the pacific dissidents of the Stalinist regime who are the true voice of the enslaved Cuban people. At the end of the meeting with Castro the Pope expressed publicly his deep appreciation for the genocide of the Cuban people who after 56 years make a country that had the higher standard of living in Latin America in 1959 to the poorest and most oppressed in the history of this hemisphere.

As professor Carlos Eire stated: "As Newsweek has observed, seventeen years ago in his homily in Havana, John Paul II mentioned “freedom” seventeen times and “justice” thirteen times. In his homily, Francis did not mention “freedom” or “justice” once. All that Francis said about Cubans was that they are “a people which has its wounds, like every other people.” In other words, Francis told Cubans that they are no worse off than any other people on earth after fifty-six years of economic and political repression, and that they really have nothing to complain about. The closest he came to upbraiding the Castro regime or to calling for an end to the enslavement of the Cuban people was to say: “service is never ideological, for we do not serve ideas, we serve people.”

Nicely said. As to the good in the world, be at peace in the knowledge that the good in the world is still present, vastly out numbering the evil. But evil has infiltrated our institutions that were formed as bulwarks against evil and corrupted them as is their want. The anger you feel and identify as racism is probably truly directed at the injustice of the attack upon us by the Marxist black left. It is easier to condem the race because it is a quick emotional way to vent anger at the injustice. In this you are not alone. However upon reflection the number of people in the radical black marxist group is small compared to number of good decent black folks who don’t believe the nonsense. What is an issue is our need to break through the brainwashing these people have been subjected to by Marxist education institutions and the marxist democrat party. Our candidates should hammer this theme any time they get a chance and go into black communities and hammer it there too. Don’t despair people are waking up. Which is why 0 is importing foreign nationals and is placing them in large cities, generally controlled by dims and I am sure the dim machine will have them voting in no time flat. IMHO this is the stealth issue at present. Have a great day. And remember God is in charge.
