The Pope's Real Message: Read the totality of what the Pope said, rather than MSM chosen excerpts

The Pope’s comments to Congress on immigration have to be read in detail in order to understand what he’s saying. He’s not making specific policy statements -- you must provide a path to citizenship. Instead he’s defining the moral rules that should govern our actions:

Our world is facing a refugee crisis of a magnitude not seen since the Second World War. This presents us with great challenges and many hard decisions. On this continent, too, thousands of persons are led to travel north in search of a better life for themselves and for their loved ones, in search of greater opportunities. Is this not what we want for our own children? We must not be taken aback by their numbers, but rather view them as persons, seeing their faces and listening to their stories, trying to respond as best we can to their situation. To respond in a way which is always humane, just and fraternal.

His most important point is that we must treat refugees and would-be immigrants as we would wish to be treated. That’s a moral statement, not a detailed policy prescription.

If we were fleeing for our lives, we’d want others to give us refuge, so we must provide refuge for those who are in danger of death.

The Pope is not saying that we are required to make refugees citizens or to give them welfare for life, just as we could not expect to be taken care of for life simply because at one point in time our lives were threatened. Further, we would not expect that others should solve the problems of our homeland while we reside in safety; even the French refugees from Nazism formed armed units that helped liberate Europe.

Hence, providing temporary shelter for those fleeing ISIS makes perfect sense,

The Pope missed the point that so many of the “refugees” aren’t’.

........................................................

In the current state of this media controlled world, the translation of the Pope's words to the general lemming public is, “open your door, GIVE them (refugees, immigrants) everything, and ask no questions”.

If he followed up with anything about having laws and following them, it would've been one thing. But he didn't!

The Pope is not an idiot and he knows what he did.

When you listen to what he has said on many issues, and more importantly, what he has not said, during this trip, it is obvious that this man is not who many think he is.

When Francis became Pope I could tell that the left was going to bide its time, let everyone get their adulation out of their systems before they put their plan into order.

Their plan was to scour everything the Pope says and they look for any angle they can play up to their advantage.

Pro-life? Well, we will just ignore that. Calls for traditional marriage? We will gloss over that. But when he says anything that sounds like he agrees with the leftist’s position that is when they put the megaphone to their mouths.

The left calls it “marginalization,” and they are marginalizing the Pope to the extent that they are making him look like one of them. Meanwhile, conservatives are acting like the Pope has went to the dark side. Conservatives are the ones acting like the left used to act to JPII. Conservatives are now the ones who are saying nasty things about Francis.

Every time Francis speaks the left goes out of their way to co-opt his words. In effect they are putting their collective arm around his shoulder and they look at us and give us the distinct impression that Francis agrees with them.

Remember, he may have opinions about the climate and refugee status, but his main job is to keep the flock morally aware, which means pro-life and pro-family.

Just the things that the left is scrambling to get us to ignore.

You’re right and both are equally frightening.

If a thief comes into my house to steal my goods I must treat him the way I myself would like to be treated if I broke into someone else's house to steal his goods. Very clear.

Unlike the Wehrmacht, these new legions can be easily defeated ... if we have the will.

This pope has an understanding of science that rivals Urban VIII.

I miss these guys!

Some perspective. I don’t think it is quite what the Pope meant but it is quite properly derivative of what he said and actually consistent with what he meant though, from his perspective, he has not thought through the ramifications. “God sometimes writes straight with crooked lines.”

No, they’re not. Given that three quarters of them are soldier-aged men, it is evident that they are an invading army. If Europe does not respond correctly to this military invasion Europe is lost. Of course Europe has been in the toilet and trying to pull the handle for some time now.

Lol. 1 out of 1000 Papal critics would be willing to do that. The rest go by what their friends said. Or what some moron on main stream media said. Supposedly the main stream media is totally corrupt and unreliable -- except of course when it reports on Catholic matters. Then suddenly everything they say is true.

Yes and if they keep it up they'll find they are short 70 million votes in the next election.

I read the Pope’s remarks. In full. He wants us to open the flood gates and let unlimited people in to the US. It is pretty obvious to anyone without their pink Pope glasses...

{Europe has been in the toilet and trying to pull the handle for some time now.}

Sadly true. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to visit
Europe several times. Love the museums and architecture. Would not go now.

After reading all about one of his highlighted “heroes”, Dorothy Day, it confirmed everything I’ve suspected of this Holy Father and I respectfully disagree with him.
She was a commie, a Ho Chi Minh lover, had an abortion and a baby out of wedlock and went against just about every tenet of the Church...
And he picked HER as a guiding light for us Catholics? Really?
