A 51-year-old German woman is being evicted from her home of 16 years to make way for refugees.
Bettina Halbey, a 51-year-old nurse, has lived alone in her flat in the small western German town of Nieheim since her children grew up.
On September 1, she received a letter from the local municipality, telling her the building was being turned into a refugee shelter and she had until next May to leave.
When Ms Halbey vented her frustration on Facebook, asking why she was being evicted when properties were standing empty in the town, her comment was shared 200,000 times.
In Germany, where 52 per cent of people rent their homes, it is unheard of to be asked to leave under such circumstances.
“It was like a kick in the teeth,” said Halbey, who brought up her two children as a single mother in the flat.
Mayor of Nieheim, Rainer Vida, said the building was needed to house refugees because the town’s existing three shelters were full. “A new residential unit for 30 refugees in Nieheim would cost €30,000 (£22,000). This solution will cost me nothing,” he told Welt.
Doubts have been raised over whether the municipality’s move is legal. It has invoked a law under which a private landlord can evict a tenant if he wants to move into the property himself.
“Normally, only a natural person can terminate for personal use A municipality cannot move into a flat as a legal entity, so the process is legally highly questionable,” Ulrich Ropertz, spokesman of the German Tenants' Federation, said.
The state government of Hamburg is pushing legislation that would enable it to seize empty commercial properties and turn them into refugee shelters.
Local politicians in Berlin have called for empty apartments to be requisitioned from private landlords.

I read about this a few days ago, and then saw a pictorial where Germans were waiting at the train stations to kiss and hug up the “refugees”, and holding signs to welcome them, etc. I hope that all those dopes were first with their hands up to volunteer to have a few of those young, fit, healthy (at least we can’t tell if they have AIDS, ebola, etc, yet) sleep in their homes, as many as the could squeeze in. I wish I could find some of the ones in those pictures, and ask them is they’ve opened their homes to these “refugees”, and if not, why not, when their fellow citizens are having their private property confiscated to house these “refugees”.
People of the west had better wake up and throw their progressive leadership out before they wake up one day and find that that leadership has successfully replaced them.
The German Nation, and particularly its elites, seem to lose their minds every other generation, chasing extremist, utopian, social and political fantasies, with well-known disastrous results.

As a single mother raising children, even though employed as a nurse, I would suspect she recieved assistance from the government. I would also suspect she voted for the socialist politicians who gave her the money. Now the government that handed her money is throwing her out of her home.

I have a friend in Spain that told me rumors are flying that the German senate is going to vote to forcefully seize commercial real estate to house the invaders.
I’ve long said that the day would come when Americans would be forced to hand over their homes and all their money to illegals. It’s sort of happening now, anyway, since we are paying for them, and Americans have to flee neighborhoods where illegals invade. But someday it will be more blatant. Trump is really our last hope of turning it around.

Their ilk were probably the first with their hands up in surrender to the socialists (national and otherwise). As they say, a conservative is a liberal who was mugged. Hope it doesn't come to that for them, but they need a cold reality slap in the face.
Although the building belongs to the local municipality, it is not social housing and Ms Halbey pays the full market rent.

If I’m reading the article correctly, the city owns the home. So it seems that she has been is a German form of Section 8 housing, and is getting the boot...when the gubment gets to pick and choose these types of things, you’ve got to expect this will happen eventually.
