It’s a good first step but I won’t get too excited until I see who replaces him.
If it’s one of his lieutenants nothing is going to change.
Hensarling would be a GREAT choice... bet on McCarthy though.
They say I gotta go to rehab. No, no, no”
You may be correct but going to rehab doesn’t have that stigma for high profile people. Many wear it like a badge of courage or a rite of passage.
TV news reporting McCarthy left the meeting looking “down-trodden.”
conservatives better mobilize and start calling their reps and demand that none of Boehner’s lackeys get anywhere near the job ...start today and don’t stop calling or writing...don’t let up ....
Yes my money is on McCarthy. He’s next in line. Another RINO who will be just as weak as Boehner but without the booze.
Good riddance.
But I am mad that he resigned instead of being voted out of leadership.
I wanted public humiliation for him.
Second that!
Not sure he is interested, tho...
The sumbitach also went to Paris and negotiated the traitorous “peace” with NVN.
Surprisingly after 64 posts there is no wanted successor in spite of all the desire to get rid of Boehner. What goes? Expect a stranger.
Oh I remember old ghenghis john going. Geez. I thought there was a law against that. Guess it doesn’t apply to gigilos.(sp)
He works the night shift....just got up..
IF it was conservatives that took out Boehner (a big IF), it is a personal smack that will make the next RINO leader less openly hostile to conservatives. There was never any chance a few dozen actual conservatives in the House were going to get a conservative Speaker. It’s about respect.
He humiliated himself in front of the world yesterday. Weeping like a baby for hours, it was pathetic.
The Speaker HAS to be represent the House Caucus which has a small majority of RINOs so McCarthy may be a good fit. Scalise wouldn’t surprise me though. He had a good reputation among conservatives before he took the whip job- where he then pleased RINOs.
People here talking about blackmail. I think it’s just politics and that’s more scary. Any politician would have compromised with the conservatives instead of resigning without powerful forces preventing him.
“No he would be up for re election in Nov. 2016 along with the rest of the House, if he chose to stay in the House, even after resigning as Speaker.”
Normally that would be true, however the conservative Republicans did a maneuver a few months ago to bring him up for a vote this October. He was facing that vote and evidently didn’t think he would win it.
I would like Gowdy for speaker.
Newt may be a good choice but I think a better choice would LTC West, it was Boehner who redistricted West and insured he would not return the House, there was zero support for West, yet he came very close to winning but for corruption.
That would be Justice!
“That will lead to endless FR threads of X is a RINO, Y is owned by the elites and Z is a wimp. I hate those pointless threads filled with name calling, unsubstantiated claims and mindless opinions.”
Yes, the nasty name calling, meaning nothing, will flourish. It’s difficult to post these days without crass/mean/disgusting epitaphs heaped on the poster. I’ve made a decision not to post to fanatics as it is useless. I also wouldn’t suggest to a friend he/she should read or post here.
Kevin McCarthy IIRC
End of October
