(CNN) —A stampede during one of the last rituals of the Hajj season -- the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca -- has killed more than 300 people and injured 450 others in Saudi Arabia.
The stampede occurred Thursday during the ritual known as "stoning the devil" in the tent city of Mina, about 2 miles from Mecca, Islam's holiest city.
Hundreds have been killed in past years during the same ceremony.
"We have a stampede accident in Mina, and civil defense is dealing with it," said Brig. Gen. Mansour al-Turki, an Interior Ministry spokesman.
The ministry said the latest death toll is 310, but the numbers have been climbing steadily. Officials deployed 4,000 workers and 220 ambulances and other vehicles to Mina to help with the disaster.
In the ritual, crowds of pilgrims throw stones at three pillars, in a re-enactment of an event when the Prophet Abraham stoned the devil and rejected his temptations, according to Muslim traditions.
The ceremony was the scene of stampedes and hundreds of deaths in the 1980s and 1990s as pilgrims passed a crowded bottleneck area leading to the small pillars on the ground.
In 2006, a stampede there killed at least 363 people.

They need to have the haj every month. A few hundred is a good start.
I could point out that putting thousands of muslims together, giving them rocks, and telling them to stone the first devil they see is likely to end badly.
Muzzies profess to hate idols & idolatry (massacred millions of Hindus to prove it), yet they venerate & kiss the black stone of the Kaaba as something sent by Allah.
All over the world there are markers (now on Iphones) telling muzzies exactly which way to face toward Mecca when praying. That’s idolizing an entire city.
Meanwhile they have to physically show up to obey the Koran, and the Sauds just watch the moolah roll in.
Single-digit century inhabitants they are, indeed.
Yet, the killer remains the same.
Need bigger holes for the eyes in the burkas and the costumes.

devil rock in a court yard, just to prevent this sort

I can imagine at night they come with a front end loader
gather up all the stones and sell them again the next day.
After all, if they didn’t the place would fill up and
they’d have to relocate...
The false prophet Mohammed never accounted for the possibility of his religion having over a billion followers. It’s at the point of near impossible logistics to satisfy the religious edict of pilgrimage. The hajj is now a seemingly year round overload on the city.
The lack of such foresight says all you need to know about the divinity of Islam.

Handel, KFI/LA Apologize For Hajj Remarks

CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES and morning man BILL HANDEL have apologized to the Muslim community for the bit on a recent show in which the irreverent host imitated what a helicopter traffic report for the Hajj pilgrimage and the deadly stampede would sound like.
On his show WEDNESDAY, HANDEL said that “the wound was very fresh for a lot of Muslims and the comments were out of line. And for that, I am sorry.” The COUNCIL FOR AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS says that it also received direct contact from HANDEL with a personal apology, and received a letter from CLEAR CHANNEL/LOS ANGELES RVP GREG ASHLOCK extending an apology.

What would you say?
Stampedes are a ritual of the Hajj season.
Like their beheadings and suicide bombings, these deaths are form of human sacrifice to their demons.
Stampede describes what animals do, not humans.
From the article... Losing one’s life during the Hajj season is considered by many devout Muslims as an entry to heaven.
Perhaps we should intervene and “help them ascend”. We could just say we were trying to help.

The entire hajj is just one big money machine for the Saud princes.
Fr’instance, which airlines have landing rights at Saudi airports, and how much baksheesh does that add up to?
