GOP candidates scramble to win over Scott Walker supporters

Even before Scott Walker dropped out of the race for president, his Republican rivals for the White House were chasing after the remnants of his once high-flying campaign.

Walker’s opponents openly gossiped about the Wisconsin governor's political challenges as they gathered in California for last week’s presidential debate. Once he formally left the race Monday afternoon, the jockeying only intensified. […]

By the end of the night, several campaigns had moved from outreach to bragging about who from Walker’s team they had won over. […]

Warning that the 2016 campaign had become too nasty, Walker said Monday he’s “being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive conservative message can rise to the top.” While stepping aside, he urged others to quit, too—suggesting that a smaller pool of candidates would be better positioned to take down Republican front-runner Donald Trump. …

He’s done great things in Wisconsin.

That he was forced to denounce Trump in his withdrawal speech shows just how little control these candidates have and who really pulls the strings

Walker didn’t gain any traction because he is a chicken$hit little twerp.

I started out liking Walker but end up agreeing with you on who he is. I think he’s in the right place, Governor of Wisconsin. Higher than that for him and you are looking at Peter Principle.

(Not sure why he didn’t gain any more traction than he did actually.)

I think it was that bald spot on the back of his head, looked too much like a target.

Liar. HIS campaign had become too pandering, as he kept changing on issues daily. Good luck to you, Gov. Squish. You did pretty well until you started listening to the GOPe consultants and started flip-flopping.

Funny that the focus is not on taking down cankles or doing what's right for America. Not funny. Sad really.

The GOPe is pathetic and jeb! is a maggot.

Walker is owned by the GOPe, an Amnesty pimp. The only candidates not owned by the GOPe are Trump and Cruz and I am not all that sure about Cruz.

“Tis unfortunate Walker quit the way he did, sour grapes. If he thought Republicans were nasty, he certainly wasn’t ready for the Democrats.”

The northern border wall comment was more than dumb. Does he know how long the northern border is?

Perry was nasty too when he bowed it.

Trump is truly the ONLY one of these guys, with no exceptions, who doesn’t look like he’s pandering, or sound like a TV commercial.
**********************************
Trump talks like he’s “off the cuff”, but he does have a plan. ....Cruz hasn’t pandered to anyone and just keeps pounding his messages on the various issues.

Kasich (his dad was a mailman), Christi, Jindal, Santorem, Bush and Huckabee just keep talking about their pasts (like Walker did). ....The rest aren’t worth talking about.

give him credit for getting out compared to the majority of the bozos who are clinging to nothing...

His I quit comments tell it all. There was no need for the holier than Trump statements...

Fully agree! He was trying to convince others to turn on Trump and support the limp GOPe. He lost me for any future attempts he might try.

I notice the media is playing his anti-Trump message over and over and over. Fox news included of course.

Yep. They aren’t reporting the news, they’re forming it. They have zero credibility and the whole country ought to be made acutely aware of it.

Have you ever turned on a TV? I have a TV but only use it for PBS kids for my youngster.

Every once in a while I go down to the lower channels, to the drek on commercial TV.

It is so absolutely mind-numbing, so absolutely without the slightest redeeming value whatsoever, that I think it explains why vast swaths of the American public can be so easily manipulated by the evil media.

You can see all you need to see in his "farewell" address: he was nasty, did not understand the support Trump has (and don't kid yourself, if Carson or Fiorina had been on top, it would have been same song, different lyrics). He showed himself not only classless, but a liar, because he pledged on that stage to support the GOP nominee, which, at this moment, would be Trump.

Many of these people I could point to specific things they said or did, but with Walker it was always a hunch, an instinct. My instincts proved right.

I agree. I thought Walker represented the best of the bunch. But I guess Americans want showmanship over results. I now have to reshuffle my preferences. I was a Cruz man until he dissed Carson on the Muslim presidency thing. Fiorini is problematic also. I guess my realigned preferences goes something like this: Carson Rubio Huckabee Cruz Bush Kasich Christie Jindal
