What Bernie Sanders means by ‘democratic socialism.’ (You still have your choice of pajamas.)
Washington Post ^ | September 19 at 8:49 PM | John Wagner

Posted on 09/19/2015 7:00:24 PM PDT by BenLurkin

“So what does that mean?” Sanders asked the students. “Does anyone here think I’m a strong adherent of the North Korean form of government? That I want all of you to be wearing similar colored pajamas?”

“Is it a society where the government owns every mom-and-pop store?” he asked. “Of course not. You have all kinds of capitalist entrepreneurship going on, a lot of wealth being created. But what else do you have? … An effort to make sure that all people benefit from the wealth that’s being created. So you have a much more equitable distribution of wealth and income. … I talked to a guy from Denmark, and he said, ‘In Denmark, it is very hard to become very, very rich, but it’s pretty hard to be very, very poor.’ And that makes a lot of sense to me.”

In Denmark, Sanders said, health care is a right, and college education is free

...

Sanders acknowledged the Scandinavian countries he cited “are no utopias.” But he asked his audience to compare how secure people are there compared to here.

...

“So what democratic socialism means to me," he said, "is having a government which represents all people, rather than just the wealthiest people, which is most often the case right now in this country. And it is making sure that all of our people have health care as a right, education as a right, decent housing as a right, child care as a right. That’s what I believe.”

Exactly. He may not want everyone wearing the same color pajamas — but his policies will grind down the economy to where there won’t be any choice.

I’m hoping that Hillary drops out and the Democrats have no one else but Bernie. Sure, the hardcore 30% that always vote Democrat might be excited about a crazy old socialist, but the great Independent Middle of the public is going to feel stupid voting for a guy like that. I would predict a massive Republican landslide. Especially with Trump as the GOP nominee — Trump transcends normal groupings (he appeals to just about anyone who distrusts government), whereas Sanders plays only to the stupid extremists.

In his socialist utopia what you get is determined by need instead of your effort. You can be the laziest SOB with ten kids on earth yet you will get more than the hardest working person because of greater need.

Yep, they will take all of your paycheck and then give you back what THEY think you need.

Using Karl Marx’s ideas to help the middle class is like using Adolf Hitler’s ideas to help the Jews.

Marx HATED the middle class.
He wanted them DEAD.
He had NOTHING to offer them.

The Communist Manifesto is free online if you don’t believe me, but reading it would be hard and require effort.

It’d be so much easier to just call me names and talk down to me.

You’d be wrong, but you’d feel good about yourself and that’s all that really matters in Obamaland.

Sanders has certainly already read Marx.

Guess Bern-bern didn’t talk to the recent ‘refugees’ to Denmark. According to them Denmark stinks when it comes to handing out freebies.

Oh but the people commenting at WaPo are enthusiastic over the Sanders. They seem to believe that government will no longer be “the hammer of the ruling class” after his plans are all implemented.

Yet he has repeatedly and consistently supported policies which have done exactly what he claims to be against - by design. Large corporations are encouraged to merge by the policies to absorb the costs and survive them, squelching out other smaller competitors who either have to sell out to them or just go out of business. Private physician practices? Dying out and becoming part of corporations. Nonprofits being squeezed out to corporate interests. Sanders again and again has supported big government policies causing all of these problems that he rails against - promising that if we just give him even more control over our lives and wealth he'll make things better - and then the process continues to repeat until finally he has it all.

Does Bernie's plan include equality in distribution of hours worked, how had one works during those hours, the number of years spent training for one’s job/profession, hours of midnight oil burned, work-related stress etc.?

sanders is elected—Lenins body will be moved to the Mall in Washington. The wealthy will be stripped of their wealth—all workers will be given just enough bread and vegitable—meat once a month. A wall with Mexico will be built —to keep people IN. Canada will be taken over so there will be no place to have workers leave the “Worker’s Paradise”.

“You still have your choice of pajamas.”

Well that’s crazy. More than one type of pajamas is wasteful. All the money spent on different types of pajamas could be spent on free college tuition. But why should we have more than one college? Or more than one student? That sounds wasteful too.

BS is right.

Those people are too ugly to be Republicans.

Especially that goofy-looking guy in the middle.

Remember: Beauty is only skin-deep; but ugliness goes all the way to the Democrat soul (if Democrats even have souls - which is debatable).

“The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are:

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.”

Question. I know he is in caucus with the Democrats, but Sanders is an INDEPENDENT. How can he get DNC money and support but not be a declared Democrat. So he’s a third party candidate using Democrat funding? Why is no one asking him to declare being Democrat before he cashes the funding checks?

Everyone who needs to know knows that Bernie is a actually an undercover Democrat. That he has a following of one shows how far down the slide of degeneracy we, as a Nation have slid. His actual following demonstrates the depth to which we, as a Nation, have descended.
