Mika To Hugh Hewitt: You're 'Uncomfortable Being Honest' About CNN Debate Format
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/18/2015 6:28:03 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

In the view of this NewsBuster, Hugh Hewitt is the ablest conservative interviewer on radio. So it was surprising to see him serve as such a loyal CNN soldier on today's Morning Joe.

Hewitt, a member of the CNN panel at Wednesday's GOP debate, refused to complain about the paltry opportunities he was given to question the candidates. And defending the fact that Donald Trump had been given twice Scott Walker and Mike Huckabee's airtime, Hewitt said that while "unfortunate," Jake Tapper had done a "marvelous" job of allocating time. That was too much for Mika Brzezinski, who bluntly told Hewitt: "I guess you're probably uncomfortable being honest about this." Mika's skepticism is on vivid display in the screengrab.

Did Hugh Hewitt go too far in defending CNN’s debate format which severely limited his questioning and gave Trump twice as much time as some other candidates? Mika certainly thinks so!

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.

When you play with liberals there is no clean end to the poo stick. Hewitt is as willing a whore as the rest of his profession. Maybe he can play Gotcha again with Donald.

Trump deserved twice the time. Fiorina did not deserve to be on the stage . The first half of the debate was a johnny pile on trump

I have lost all respect for HH. Could barely listen to his BS to begin with. Always starts his interviews with stupid sports banter about Cleveland and Ohio. Just stupid and lame. And why does he refer to his wife as the “fetching Mrs Hewitt?” Did he marry a dog?

It was a pile on against Trump and it didn’t work. St Carly got all softball and pile on questions so all of her support will come from Jeb and Carson. Has she stopped crying yet for being called ugly?

Trump’s supporters will see it for what it was.

Pray America is waking

With as many debates scheduled as there are, I think they should start cutting the chase participants, bottom 1 or 2 each round or 3 or 4 every 2 or 3 debates. It works for NASCAR. Just saying!

One Media clown being critical of another.

Apparently NONE of them realize they all could be locked in an insane asylum in Canada and none of them would be missed nor their absence mourned.

CNN didn’t need to pay him. Hewitt whores for Salem Media, the number one purveyor of RINO propaganda to Evangelical Christians.

I’m honestly surprised that Mark Steyn spends time with Hewitt. They always seem cordial, but I imagine Steyn has not much respect for HH.

Hugh Hewitt looks like a cross between John Major and Mr. Phelps.

The next republican debate should only include those with 5% or more in the polls. 11 people answering questions is unruly!
Trump
Bush
Cruz
Carly
Carson
and maybe
Paul

Hewitt’s angling to become CNN’s house conservative. Can’t crack the line-up at Fox, so he’ll play nice at CNN and hope Jeff Zucker offers him a full-time gig.

Before the debate, I (mistakenly) assumed that Hewitt would get as many opportunities to question the candidates as Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. Watching the debate, it appeared as though Tapper asked 80% of the questions, while Bash and Hewitt got a chance about every 30-45 minutes.

Hugh really was the invisible man during the debate and that’s a shame, because he is a very insightful interviewer.

“Did Hugh Hewitt go too far in defending CNN’s debate format which severely limited his questioning and gave Trump twice as much time as some other candidates?”

Yes, especially after reading his comments before the debate about his “grid” to see that all candidates were fairly allotted time and that it would be about issues not personal attacks. CNN would destroy the GOP and they love the GOP compared to how they view “Conservatives”. The GOP is stupid for trusting these people to run the debates unless they want this kind of performance, which I don’t doubt.

When I saw Dana Bash was on the panel I knew Hugh’s time would be minimal. He was just Conservative figleaf window dressing for CNN.
