A Crack in Trump’s Armor? [Another hit piece?]
National Journal ^ | 9/16/15 | Ronald Brownstein

Posted on 09/16/2015 1:19:19 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

As the sprawling, brawling Republican presidential field gathers for its second debate here tonight, the new ABC/Washington Post national poll may point to a crack in the armor of confrontational front-runner Donald Trump.

While the poll found that Trump continues to hold a comfortable lead among Republicans nationwide, detailed results provided to Next America show that large numbers of white-collar GOP voters doubt that he has the qualifications, personality, or temperament to succeed as president.

Right, because anything but effusive praise is a “hit piece.”/S

Every tine a hit piece comes out it furthers my resolve. I love it when the establishment squirms. I would rather take my chances with the “D” or Ben than any of the others.

At the very least, anyone criticizing Trump better be able to point to a long history of viciously contesting Democrats and their policies.

It's interesting you say that. Can Trump point to a long history of viciously contesting Democrats and their policies? No, he has a long history of supporting Democrats and viciously opposing conservative policies?

In fact, Trump never supporting conservatism at all, until he had something to gain from it. Even then, he took up arms to support Romney in the primary. But now we are supposed to forget that because the media tells us he's conservative?

By the way, I think Thomas Sowell, among others, has a long history of contesting Democrats and their policies. Show me any proof of the opposite?

I think abandoning conservatism because the media tell us is a bad idea.,

Why would a pollster not want to be identified? Doesn’t he stand by his poll results?

A white collar voter by their definition is anyone who supports the Chamber of Commerce. Isn’t “white collar” a racist term???

Sowell ain’t running. I’d happily vote for him if was. The man is a genius.

But you cannot say the same for most of the folks who will be on that stage for the debate. Of all of them, only Walker and Cruz have really done anything to stick a knife in Democrats and their policies and both have paid a price.

And, strangely enough, both of ‘em are pretty quiet about Trump.

I am not a Trump supporter. The folks who support Trump disappoint me. Trump has turned his coat TWICE in his career. He has sucked at the teat of Big Government. He really is not a good standard bearer for “anti-Establishment” conservatism. I think his supporters are just projecting their hopes onto a guy they refuse to vette (like Obama supporters), even though his history is right out there for them to see (unlike Obama...).

But he seems to be only one ready to fight the battle against illegal immigration and other evils.

If I was running against Trump, I wouldn’t bother to attack him except to compare his policies to Left wing policies (like his tax scheme) that I was attacking.

Based on what? You can't trust him for his opportunism. He also hired one of the biggest pushers amnesty in the GOPe to be his campaign manager. I would trust that to be more indicative of his position on amnesty than anything he says. If he was really a hawk on immigration he would never hire that person.

“People get an idea of the temperament it takes to be a successful president … and get the idea that insulting every world leader who doesn’t agree with you is not in the interest of the United States.

You know what people have gotten the idea of? They have gotten the idea that they are sick and tired of a president that runs around sucking the *icks of evey piss ass country in the world while apologizing for America being what it was, the saviour of the free world! I for one am ready for a President that tells the islamists and communists to F' off and kiss our asses and if they don't like it tough titties.
