Dame Helen Mirren is not shy to speak her mind.
The Oscar-winning actress has taken aim at men who sling their arm over their girlfriend’s shoulders because it looks like ‘ownership’.
In an interview with the Mail On Sunday’s You Magazine, Dame Helen compared women to ‘toddlers in this modern world’ in the sense they were were still ‘trying to find their position in the age of sexual liberation, birth control, education and financial independence.’

Look Helen, in a relationship there is a certain amount of ownership.
If my husband declared that he was a free and independent agent then he would promptly be invited to be free and independent somewhere else.
The reverse is also true. I am not a free and independent agent, I belong to him.
When you do not have any ownership in a relationship you do not have relationship. You have someone you have sex with.
The big problem people are having these days is that they are being told that they should be happy just to screw occasionally and not depend on anyone else.
