Would you vote for the best candidate on immigration, or everything else?

Good Afternoon Onyx,

I maintain that if the nominee is Trump, he will go with Ted Cruz for VP for three very major reasons:

1.) Cruz is the best on the Constitution there is, bar none.

2.) Cruz would preside over the Senate, and would hopefully make life Hell for Senator Myrtle the Turtle to the point that Kentucky RINO would just retire.

3.) Cruz locks in Texas’ electoral votes, Trump should have a lock on New York’s electoral votes, and goes a long way to victory.

If Trump asks a GOPe to be his running mate, THAT would probably change my mind. This election is bigger than politics, it is for the survival of the Republic.
If elected Trump will be a bigger target than any president in the past 100 years. His VP must be somewhere to his right on damn near everything. If for no other reason than insurance. I know there are others but Michelle Bachmann comes to mind.

He will definitely pick Cruz if things pan out, and that’s a very good thing. Cruz will be an immense help to a President Trump. I like Cruz very much but to get ANYTHING done we have to get the White House and Congress out of the hands of the enemy. I think Trump has a better chance of making that happen at the top of the ticket.

Those that are saying Trump is wrong on some issues need to face the fact that no matter how right any candidate is, they can’t do squat if they can’t get elected.

Everything is tied to immigration.

As the headlines have been saying all week, immigrants, both legal and illegal, are dependent on government services, welfare, schooling, healthcare and food. With immigrants dependent on the government, the government has to grow and when the government grows, so do the unions.

We are told that we have to save the world from melting. We must give up our land and move into apartments or condos and take public transportation. But that would not be possible if immigration were not the driving force for changing our lifestyle.

U.S. Department of Transportation
Transportation for a New Generation
Strategic Plan Fiscal years 2012-2016
http://www.dot.gov/sites/dot.dev/files/docs/990_355_DOT_StrategicPlan_508lowres.pdf

Secretary Ray LaHood
This Strategic Plan responds to these challenges and opportunities. It presents five strategic goals for America’s transportation system:
Safety;
State of Good Repair;
Economic Competitiveness;
Livable Communities;
Environmental Sustainability.

Page 7
Fostering livable communities—places where coordinated transportation, housing, and commercial development gives people access to affordable and environmentally sustainable transportation—is a transformational policy shift for DOT.

Page 47
The traditional nuclear family that made up 40 percent of households in 1970 now comprises less than 24 percent of households. This is an important demographic trend that could have a profound effect on the demand for transit because the demographic groups growing most quickly—older, non-family, non-white households—have historically used transit in higher numbers.
Page 48
However, due to zoning codes and disjointed transportation, housing, and economic development policies, meeting market demand for vibrant, walkable neighborhoods is often difficult or impossible.

Building livable communities involves a holistic approach and DOT is therefore collaborating across lines of authority to leverage related Federal investments. DOT, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have formed the Partnership for Sustainable Communities to promote sustainable development and more livable communities. The Partnership is working to address barriers to coordinating transportation, housing, and environmental programs and investments.

Immigration is the biggest issue of our time. Not getting a handle on it in the Western world will be the end of the first world as we know it. It’s that important.

This cycle I am a two issue voter.

Immigration and Trade.

My logic is this: If we don't correct our path, and reverse on BOTH of those, nothing else will matter.

Nothing. All the benefits of this great, liberal Republic will have been negated.

We will be turned into a wasteland where only treachery, treason and tribalism reside.

"The low-information voters backing Trump never think out the issues very thoroughly."

Do you believe all Trump supporters are LIV, or just some?

If only some, what would explain the others?

This is not a policy driven election on the R side. Policy is for wonks who haven’t learned that in Republican-land policy means “lies to buy votes”.

It’s an anti-establishment election, period.

The border is a rallying point for many, but not the root reason for the upside down polling you are seeing. The ridiculous non-performance of the R party in congress and anger at Obama’s and other liberals actions form the roots of this movement.

I agree with some of what you say.

I do not agree that we need a Constitutional amendment in order to once again control illegal immigration. Two things need to happen: current laws are enforced and the magnets are removed. It worked very well for many years, and can do so again. And, I believe it is within the authority of Congress to define citizenship for those who do sneak across in time to deliver. (And, if I’m wrong, someone here will no doubt point it out to me.)

Now, it does require skill, backbone, leadership and vision to correct this problem. Things that have been missing inside the Beltway for a long time, with a few notable exceptions.

Lose Immigration and NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

Ignoring Immigration is likely the best that Cruz can hope for, as, unlike Trump, he will have neither the mandate nor the balls to take on Congress and especially the Courts when he takes office. Trump will likely tell the Courts that they can SHOVE IT when they try to step in to block him - and if that means assuming dictatorial powers, then SO BE IT. Don’t blame Trump, he inherited this mess - blame Obama, but especially blame Bush-43 who literally STOPPED the wall from being built in 2007.

So Cruz, at best, will likely leave us with the status quo on immigration (maybe worse on H1B’s)...and the quickening demographic transformation of this country will continue...until the Dems get another shot at absolute power, and when they do, they WILL NOT put Amnesty off for health care reform, gun control, abortion, or ANYTHING ELSE.

Unlike the Republicans, Democrats are able to LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES - they will do just as their European counterparts are doing right now - make sure that Western Culture and once and for all TOTALLY DESTROYED.

As to the other issues - nothing matters if we don’t clear out the Illegals, as the Dems will get their votes, for certain, and the Republicans will be left as a TOTALLY POWERLESS party...so where they stand on abortion, education, gun right, etc. will not make ONE BIT OF DIFFERENCE.

So maybe a compromise. Trump in 2016 to clear out the country and get the wall built, Cruz in 2020 to set the country in the right direction.

“I maintain that if the nominee is Trump, he will go with Ted Cruz for VP for three very major reasons:”

Also because they get along well, and because Trump is actually weakest in the Republican Party with conservatives, as poll after poll shows. Cruz will boost him there...and just make the blowout that much bigger.

“That is depressing.”

I think he trying to get us to jump off buildings, since he doesn’t seem to offer anyone with credibility on the issue.

Personally, I’m willing to put my faith in Trump. If he does get elected and turns left, he’ll be laughed off the stage and the Republicans in Congress will TOTALLY OPPOSE him - which means he will wind up being another useless Republican place-holder in the White House, like Bush-43. Not great, but not the end to the world.

Well, if people would watch all the other interviews Trump and Cruz have done recently, I’m ready to see them as a team. Trump has the OOmpah .. forcing things into order .. and Cruz has the knowledge of the Constitution and the rest of the law (how Congress works (or doesn’t), with which to help Trump form policy and put it into prose to be voted upon.

Plus, I’d love to see Cruz (as VP) sitting over the Senate whenever it’s in session ..!!!!! That would give me great pleasure.

I would probably watch every Senate session on C-SPAN just to see them grovel to Cruz.
