At the tailgate outside Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Saturday afternoon, hundreds of football fans gathered around a tent hosted by the Republican party of Iowa, hoping to see Donald Trump. They shouted for hours, tussled with protesters and then cried Trump, Trump, Trump when they saw a helicopter they thought he might be on.
The mostly male crowd gripped beers, constantly asking when the real estate mogul and Republican frontrunner would appear. But they didnt seem bothered by the fact he was running late. One college-aged girl said: Donald Trump is just like Hilary Duff [actor and singer from the last decade], a diva. She showed up an hour and a half late to a concert of hers I went to.
About a dozen protesters arrived bearing a banner in Iowa state colors saying Students Against Bigotry. Others held handmade signs with slogans like A Vote For Trump is a Vote For White Supremacy. Things got tense as some of the Trump supporters went back and forth with protesters, shouting at them and even tearing a sign. One of the Trump supporters observed of the protesters disapprovingly: Only one of them is white.
A protester, Julian Castilla of Winterset, Iowa, seemed to patiently accept the reception that he and his fellow activists received. Its further proving our point that they are just bigots, he said.
Most of those waiting for Trump didnt get involved. Tyler Steiner, a freshman at Iowa State from St Paul, Minnesota, showed up in a bootleg Trump T-shirt he had paid $30 for online. It was his favorite shirt to wear. It causes a lot of attention.

He needs to hit the college crowd and get the youth vote like obama did.
I went to the tent mentioned in the article. The malcontents were hanging around. to their credit, they were homemade signs, not the usual professionally made signs with professional agitators.
Great venue for presidential candidates, as long as they don't push it. People are there for football. If they want to walk through the lots, wave and such, all is well. Nobody is in the mood for some big policy discussions.
Wow, that’s what I was thinking. He was way too close to people - there are crazies every where. I pray for his safety.
Portfolio from Beavis and Butthead!
You mean like this?
Fantastic. Thanks for telling us about it first hand! Can you post/share your zinging by pic?!
Exactly.
Cornhole?!?!?!? What are they thinking?!?!?!?
The bags are filled with corn not beans. People attempt to throw the bags of corn into holes or at least onto the platform. Hence the name “Corn Hole”.
Great! You had a good advantage point. Thanks for posting. What a day!

That may be true where you come from, but the rest of us know it as being the cheap money alternative to the money hole...if you get the drift.
I suspect there is a pretty large contingent of over 60 freepers that would be familiar with the term.
Depends on your definition of familiar
It’s unfortunate that today’s students have not been schooled in true American history. Students today do not learn about freedom, liberty, and limited government. Gov’t is supposed to get their powers from the consent of the government. I wish Trump would talk about this. Does he believe this? He is in a great position to discuss this with the young (between his jokes, of course.
Never heard that term used to refer to a beanbag game until recently, and I roll my eyes every time I hear it.
My eyes are watering, and I can’t stop shaking.
“cornhole”?
Really?

Funny! I noticed that too.
I guess replacing queer with gay wasn’t enough for the people that want to change the meanings of words. ...How does a game involving tossing a small bean bag in a hole become cornhole?
