Mitt Romney, your party needs you!
Boston Globe ^ | Sept 11 2015 | Michael Cohen

Posted on 09/11/2015 9:38:17 PM PDT by WilliamIII

THERE IS one man who can save the Republican Party, and his name is Mitt Romney.

Seriously.

Seven years after Romney crashed and burned in the 2008 Republican primary and three years after he beat a weak GOP presidential field before losing to President Obama, he is still the party’s best hope of winning back the White House.

Nick, you have been around here as long as I have and you know that this place goes bat Shiite crazy when silly season rolls around every 4 years..

Take it all with a grain, and continue to make cogent arguments.

But refrain from getting into the long tit for tat because it draws flies....

Reagan had 25 years if conservative activism in 1980. Trump has 0 years. Trump has changed parties many times, including 3 times in the last five years. Trump's past is 75% liberalism and 25% political opportunism.

He supported Romney in 2012, but he bashed him for being too tough on immigration. Trump hired one of the biggest amnesty shills in the GOP, Corey Lewandowski, to be his campaign manager. Lewandowski wants to enact a weaponized form of amnesty. You think someone who is against amnesty would do that? Trump is a real estate developer and employs tons of illegals. It's completely foolish to trust him on immigration.

Your hysterics regarding Trump have made you one of the most infamous and disliked members of this website (hint: that’s NOT a good thing). It’s one thing to risk your account warning people about genuinely bad candidates (as I did in 2003 against Ah-nold out in CA, where I was proven 100% right or my being the #1 opponent against Willard from 2006 onwards taking on his paid bots and sycophant trolls), but you’ve destroyed your reputation in the process and it makes you look like a NUT.

JimRob has already personally warned you publicly. But again, for someone claiming that Trump isn’t really running, there’s no need for your posts on the subject at all. We get it, you hate Trump. Mission accomplished.

No, Nick. I’m VOTING for Cruz. I applaud Trump and his destruction of the party establishment and the media. Balls, courage, guts, you name it. The GOP has missed that for three DECADES, and our nation has paid dearly for it.

You still never explained why I should be banned. Or why Trump is better than Schwarzenegger. The latter had much longer experience as a Republican, and less liberal baggage.

One being a Clinton crony was seen as a kiss of death here. Now it's just ignored.

Reagan was a Democrat until the early 1960s, shortly before he was elected Governor of California, so you could make the same argument against him.

I trust no politician, Nick. I look at whom Trump is surrounding himself with on the illegals issue (Sessions), and if he were not serious about it, he wouldn’t be involved with him at all. But what have you to worry about, he’s not really running (your words).

I dunno about Shatner...lol...wife drowned in a pool...no witnesses, so speculation is likely. But I am not real keen on voting for trump if he makes the nomination. (very iffy)

I just don’t want to correct a mistake with another, and I’m being real diligent this time around, even was prepared to stay home if I thought it necessary and still am. The republican party is so screwed up that it has tried to shed it’s conservative base so I can oblige that...quite easily.

I am supporting Cruz for the primary...after that....well it’s still up in the air. I cannot allow myself to be a single issue voter. I like trumps immigration language, but much of it cannot be done without congress and I don’t think they will back him. If he uses executive power he does not have, then he’s no better than Obama and only good on one or two issues out of at least a dozen or more..

I just can see him acting in any way like I would expect a conservative to act.

But I am not going to beat him up everyday....I understand the interest in Trump...I just think it’s misguided and maybe a bit knee jerk.

You are voting for Cruz, but you support Trump? That is so weird. Especially since Trump has sunk the Cruz campaign. And I've seen Trump supporters say point blank that Cruz can has proven he can't get more than 5% and it's a waste to support him.

(By the way, when Trump bows out, he will take a shot at Cruz. How he got to know him and saw how bad he is. That's a Trump trademark)

If Trump drops out and endorses Jeb, are you going to support Jeb, because Trump, "reinvigorated the conservative grassroots." Because I can tell you that I will never support Jeb, Trump or, Romney. If you think that makes me a bad person, so be it.

I love all the lies about Reagan from Trump supporters. Reagan embraced conservatism in the mid-50's and started his activism then. It's true he didn't register as a Republican for a few years after that, but he was already learning and fighting for conservatism. Reagan knew it inside and out. 25 years by 1980. And Reagan only switched ONCE.

So Reagan was nothing like Trump. Trump was registered as a Republican and then became a Democrat. So you could claim he's like Hillary, just as much as Reagan. Reagan was not perfect, but he had deep knowledge and he was consistent. He didn't jump from party to party multiple times. So let's stop lying about Reagan.

Sessions is one step away from being a RINO. I wouldn’t trust Sessions as far as I could throw him. And I don’t think he’s that bright either.

The Boston Globe is worried that Hillary will lose. Their question: who would give the “First Woman President” a chance of winning the position to which she is entitled based on her patience with Bill? Mitt might just be weak enough, so they are supporting him.

You are exaggerating what I said. But yes, it was a very suspicious death. He was getting a divorce and they had been fighting the entire two years of marriage. What do you think actors are beyond reproach? I don’t know for certain he killed her, but if you read all the circumstances around it, it’s very suspicious. He was a suspect, but hey, it’s Los Angeles.

We already Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney. I'm not going to fall for that again. (even though I didn't care for those four).

Don't fall for the same old story.

He's not running. But he can still do damage. Next year when he goes back to his new Apprentice: Presidential Edition. I will go back to ignoring him, just like his Kardashian colleagues.

JimRob told you why already, don’t act dense. There was no demonstrable evidence in 2003 that Ah-nold was or ever would be anything but a leftist. He didn’t surround himself with Conservative advisors. He only ran because when he went to meet with the candidate he was going to recruit, the Socialist RINO moonbat Dick Riordan, he realized Dick was senile and had rice pudding between his ears.

Trump has shown none of those inclinations since he started running. If he was remotely like Ah-nold, the establishment would be begging him to be their boy, he would not be saying anything that he’s said on the campaign trail that genuinely appeals to the Conservative base, and he’d be surrounded by establishment flunkies and sycophants (the same ones acting as hysterical as YOU over his candidacy). If he’s a leftist as the history you point out, he’s left it all in the dust where it belongs.

But, again, you said he’s not running, and you’re absolutely certain of that. Just like you were 100% certain that William Shatner murdered his wife. Can’t argue with you on those points, right, Nick ?

I guess we shall see nick.

My first read was that he probably was not all that serious, but I have since changed that view. Circumstance and polling forced me to reconsider.

Nick says Shatner murdered his wife. Because Nick says so, we must believe it.

I don’t support Trump in a general election solely because of one issue (illegals), but that’s a big honkin’ issue. If he can tackle that and successfully, that will make him the best President in my lifetime (which includes Reagan, whose greatest error was signing off on amnesty thinking it would end the problem, instead of making it worse by signaling that breaking the law by violating our borders is “no biggie”).
