“Tell this Bush Idiot , In order to become an American Citizen You must be able to read and Write ENGLISH. “
That used to be true but they changed it . When they did the language change there were people becoming citizens by the thousands in football stadiums in Florida .
I happen to be pretty good at a certain foreign language which comes in handy because the company for which I work is headquartered in that country and nationals of said country work in our office.
However, just about all of my communications are in English except when I am dealing exclusively with nationals of said country. It is a communication thing, not a show-off thing. Why is that so hard for Jebbie to understand?
Yeah you tell him Yeb! Keep on speaking Spanish Matter of fact why don’t you stop speaking English all together. That will really show how moderate you are.
The only bizarre thing about it is speaking a foreign language in an English-speaking nation. People who do NOT speak English have failed to assimilate or do not want to assimilate.
Youngsters are encouraged to speak other languages like Spanish, French, German, and others. But English is the language spoken in the USA. There are plenty of classes for people from other countries to learn to speak English as a second language.
So Jeb wants to be favored by the LGBTs (Latino/Guatemalan/Bilingual/Transmexicans).
My observation:
It’s not just Bush...it’s the Republicans.
More reason to support anything that isn’t establishment (if there wasn’t enough reason already).
Yes keep doing it - and keep watching your poll numbers dive.
Yeb Boosh...Angry Liberal
Why does he think that should make him the Republican nominee?
Breathtaking stupidity
No, butthead, that isn't the logical conclusion! nobody says you can't speak another language at any time in this country. What Trump and MANY others are saying is that you should not campaign for the highest office in this English speaking country speaking Spanish!
What this statement tells me is that Jebbie is just not smart enough to be President.
Why wasn’t Bush in the North End for the Feast of Saint Luce speaking Italian?
Oh, for God’s sake - it’s JUST A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. I rarely do the “you poor monolinguals” dance, but give it a rest on this. I speak Spanish here in San Antonio all the time, and none of it involves kowtowing to the culture, encouraging illegal immigration or anything else. If you can’t understand what he’s saying, learn to speak Spanish. I can almost guarantee he’s not talking about you.
Flame away.
Dial dos for English.

It is generally good advice to not let your opponents know that they are making mistakes, lest they stop making mistakes. Trump should drop it...and let Jeb continue to show that he’s more interested in pandering to people who refuse to learn English well enough to function in our society, then in taking a sincere interest in the rest of us (whose ancestors learned English, by the way).
FYI, Bush and anyone else Republican who is chasing Hispanic votes is a fool (or else has a very big lead and is just trying to run up the score...but I don’t think that this applies to Jeb). Why? Because the vast majority of Hispanics live in states that are in no way up for grabs in the Presidential race. No Republican is going to win California, New Mexico, New Jersey or New York (and no Dem is going to win Texas). Take away the Hispanics in those states, and how many are left in swing states? Not a whole lot - so from a strict mathematical/political viewpoint, why pay much attention to them - especially if the means of doing so ticks off many other people across the nation?
In short, “Mr. Trump, let Jeb be Jeb - and you’ll do just fine.”
” In order to become an American Citizen You must be able to read and Write ENGLISH”
Yes, well....just why is it then that we have voting ballots in SPANISH?? Just makes me so angry!
This used to be an English speaking country. When I was young it was unusual to run across people speaking foreign languages, now it’s an everday thing.
Without the unifying effect of the language we all used to sahre, we’re becoming balkanized.
Jeb is too stupid to realize that most Americans do not see his Spanish skills as much of a plus. Jeb needs to quit the race and stop embarassing himself.
I respectfully disagree. Oh, and btw, I also live in San Antonio, and my wife is from Mexico (so there’s a lot of Spanish going on at home and with family and friends).
I’m descended from immigrants (from Poland and Russia), and remember speaking with many of them. All that I heard from them was English, except when they (and/or my parents) wanted to keep something secret from us kids. My parents grew up the children of immigrants, and were repeatedly told to “speak English, we’re in America and that’s the language here. Forget the old country, we don’t want to go back there.” In short, my immigrant family did what EVERYONE ELSE did in the early 20th century, they assimilated, they adopted the language and the culture of their new country. So has my wife - she doesn’t expect street signs OR BALLOTS to be in Spanish, even though she probably speaks as much Spanish as English, because it is almost all Spanish, all the time, with friends.
My objection to Bush speaking Spanish on the campaign trail is that he is supposedly speaking to voters. Voters, by definition, must be citizens. Citizens must speak English at least a little (and should be not merely allowed, but encouraged, to speak whatever other languages they prefer). So why is Bush speaking to voters in Spanish? Further, even if those voters are more comfortable hearing a speech in Spanish (and I can’t say that I blame them), the very fact that he does it shows to others who are bothered by illegal immigration, and even the effects of legal immigration on the scale that we have it, that he is in no way sympathetic to them or their concerns. Yes, I understand that he’s not completely stupid, and that this is a choice that he’s made - but it ticks me off, and if it ticks me off it also ticks off a lot of other people - and I don’t think that this is a good choice for him.
Frankly, I hope that he keeps it up - because I don’t want him to be the nominee, and every time he does it he loses more voters than he gains.
