AUSTIN, TX (PRESS RELEASE)

As Texas continues to mourn the loss of Harris County Sheriff Deputy Darren Goforth, Governor Greg Abbott today issued a statewide call to stand with law enforcement in Texas. I ask that communities across Texas support this cause for unity and remember the essential role that law enforcement plays in keeping Texas safe and strong.”

Additionally, law enforcement patrol cars will line the North drive of the Capitol on Friday to join in unity in turning on their red and blue flashing lights.

I was very sorry to hear of Deputy Goforth’s situation.

It’s a real shame our society is melting down like it is.

My sympathies go out to his family and associates.

This guy undoubtedly helped thousands of people during his career.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott: DO IT

Border Invasion

U.S. Const. art. IV, § 4 mandates the Federal government protect states against Invasion. The Federal government has not performed.

U.S. Const. amend. X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

All States retain the right to self defense. The Federal government has refused to provide for the common defense, the raison d'etre for the Federal government. The States must repel invasion or the people will.

Abbott; how ‘bout you have a special commission do an investigation into the Waco massacre on May 17th of this year. Then we can talk about giving full support to Texas lawmen. Right now at least some of them are suspect.

You do that and have them release the videos and ballistic test results and you will have my full support for most the LEO’s in TX.

If you really want to restore faith and support we need to know who is corrupt and who isn’t.

Ultimately Governor Abbott is a politician who will put on a show for law enforcement officers under attack from left wing extremists in the interests of looking good politically, but not defend his state’s southern border from the invasion that continues.

Probably the greatest act of civil disobedience I could think of would be the arrival of a million Americans in TX to stand and protect the southern border and begin constructing the wall-fence etc. themselves.

We see how conservative Governor Abbott is then, I’d said he would be as conservative as Judge David Bunning.

I agree.

I have no tolerance for showboats.

IMO Abbott can redeem himself but he better do it in a hurry.

I am sick and damn tired of bullshit. Defend the country.

We need to let them all know, Ted Cruz (who I support) included.

We’ve caught onto the games GOP politicans play with issues.

Meaningful and deliberate action is their only option........

The issue is not the man, it's the badge and the uniform. Obama wants the federal government to take control of local police departments so they can pick and choose what laws they will and won't enforce, like he's done with immigration enforcement. He's using the BLM activists to create situations that make it appear the local police simply are not able to do their jobs properly without federal involvement and oversight. The people need to stand with their local police departments and defend them against this attempted usurpation. Once the feds are allowed to take control they will never give it up.

I don’t need to live in Texas to see phony baloney symbolic politics. I can see it all the way here in Pennsylvania.

Abbott should urge armed Texans to have the back of law enforcement in this matter if he really wants to support the cops under attack.

What about that porous southern border?

Talk is so cheap. Rick Perry staged a fake observer mission of National Guard ahead of last year’s election to gin up the notion that something was being done about the invasion.

A great act of civil disobedience would be armed citizens or state forces securing the border and erecting a fence.

Why are people supporting Trump....because they know the talk is cheap and meaningless from business as usual politicians.

Come on down! Bring your own folding chair. We would appreciate all the help we can get ...and it is as much your problem as it is ours.

Or, you can sit at a computer pointing fingers!

Jane, it was my pleasure to offer up support for the family and associates of this murdered officer.

Sadly folks felt they had to turn this thread into a vendetta concerning Waco and trash the governor as well.

Abbott’s intent was to show support for officers in his state and discourage the sort of thing that happened to this officer.

Those are admirable goals. Symbolic gestures like this do cause the populace to focus, and support law enforcement.

There may have been better ways to do it, but the vitriol here has been rather unfortunate.

The loss of this officer should have been the focus, not trashing the governor and another matter that does still need to be resolved.

I would like to see a new political party and or acts of civil disobedience in this country.

Its OK to have ‘dreams’ because present reality is pathetic in the form of the Republican Party with its posturing and lies.

Ted Cruz’s email came in minutes ago saying “Mitch McConnell will fund Planned Parenthood”. More of the same old hustle.

Nigel Farage of the United Kindgom Independence Party has described the political system he faces in the UK as a corporatist one, a collusion of big government, big business and big banks.

A cartel of political parties named “Conservative” and “Labour” don’t represent their labels.
