Cruz: I Call Upon Every Believer...to Stand with Kim Davis
TedCruz.org ^ | 9/3/2015 | Ted Cruz

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Cruz, R-Texas, today released the following statement regarding the arrest of Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis:

“Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.

“I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court opinion.

“In dissent, Chief Justice Roberts rightly observed that the Court’s marriage opinion has nothing to do with the Constitution. Justice Scalia observed that the Court’s opinion was so contrary to law that state and local officials would choose to defy it.

“For every politician — Democrat and Republican — who is tut-tutting that Davis must resign, they are defending a hypocritical standard. Where is the call for the mayor of San Francisco to resign for creating a sanctuary city — resulting in the murder of American citizens by criminal illegal aliens welcomed by his lawlessness?

“Where is the call for President Obama to resign for ignoring and defying our immigration laws, our welfare reform laws, and even his own Obamacare?

“When the mayor of San Francisco and President Obama resign, then we can talk about Kim Davis.

“Those who are persecuting Kim Davis believe that Christians should not serve in public office. That is the consequence of their position. Or, if Christians do serve in public office, they must disregard their religious faith–or be sent to jail.

“Kim Davis should not be in jail. We are a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, founded by those fleeing religious oppression and seeking a land where we could worship God and live according to our faith, without being imprisoned for doing so.

“I call upon every Believer, every Constitutionalist, every lover of liberty to stand with Kim Davis. Stop the persecution now.”

The real problem is JAILING her for non-compliance. Impeachment is the proper process for removing an elected official for refusal to perform legal (if immoral) procedures, not imprisonment.

Exactly.

Well, that’s Trump’s focus——attention.

Meanwhile a few of his supporters seem really ticked that Cruz is showing true leadership.

" I only suggest that she should have resigned rather than follow those orders"

Some fighter you are. I would not want you in my fox hole.

A moral person has a duty to disobey immoral laws. Mrs Davis is doing her duty unlike you who would just avoid the fight by quitting. We need more Mrs Davis and fewer Duchess. I hope you give this comment some though. You do not defeat tyranny by giving up.

However, if she unwilling do her job, for what ever reason, she should be re-assigned.

It's an elected position...so there is no reassignment, and I'm certain she swore an oath to uphold the US and the KY State constitutions. Neither one has a word demanding homosexual "marriage," in fact KY's constitution has an amendment forbidding it. Yes there's a US Supreme Court opinion supporting homosexual marriage....but our clerk--and every State and Federal official does NOT swear to uphold Supreme Court opinions....only the Constitution itself. The "right" of judicial review is not actually in the Constitution anyway--as the Founders explicitly did NOT make the Supremes the final arbiter as to whether something is constitutional or not.

If Muslims say it, it’s because they cribbed everything that is worthwhile in their religion from Christianity and Judaism.

“We ought to obey God rather than men,” was the reply given by St. Peter and the other Apostles to the Sanhedrin when the Sanhedrin reminded them of the lawless order they had given to not preach Jesus Christ.

I am already sick of the phrase “stand with”. ‘Stand with’ is empty political rhetoric. It doesn’t accomplish anything by itself. I can say I stand with the giraffes in the Serengeti — so what? Far from empty rhetoric, civil disobedience and civil war are what are needed to fix things.

Notice it is ARRESTING. Not impeaching. There is a process for dealing with such an issue, and THIS IS NOT IT.

And that's what her attorney should be appealing right now.

...”Ted. Prove your a leader worthy of the Presidency!”....

If you’ve been paying attention you would know he’s already proven that....

In the Senate, Ted serves on the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; the Committee on Armed Services; the Committee on the Judiciary; the Joint Economic Committee; and the Committee on Rules and Administration.

During Ted’s service as Solicitor General, Texas achieved an unprecedented series of landmark “national” victories, including successfully defending:

• U.S. sovereignty against the UN and the World Court in Medellin v. Texas;
• The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms;
• The constitutionality of the Texas Ten Commandments monument;
• The constitutionality of the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance;
• The constitutionality of the Texas Sexually Violent Predator Civil Commitment law; and
• The Texas congressional redistricting plan.

Laying down and surrendering is why we are in this predicament. At what point are you going to fight for your freedoms as a moral and/or christian person?

This is a nation of laws, sadly, nowdays we pick and choose which laws to follow and allow bad laws to be enacted.

Mrs. Davis is not doing her duty. She just this year was elected to her position after being a deputy for many years under her mother. She assured her voters that she would comply with all laws. She has now decided which laws she will obey and which she will not. She has also decided that her deputies must follow her decision, not the law.

I had this same arguement with my husband this morning. You are entitled to your opinion, which I have not insulted you about. Believe it or not, I am also entitled to my opinion, which is that she is recently in a position of power, recently converted, and determined to make everyone agree with her or else.

He showed leadership on a lot of things since he became a Senator. Recently he helped organise the Iran protest back when Trump said he wouldn’t tear it up, he’d police it.

>>She’s in a public office, and has NOT been there for decades. She knew pretty much which way the wind was blowing and what the job would entail.

Lots of people get elected to public office to stand for issues and to effect change. It is the reason why most people run for office—even for a long-time deputy clerk who wants the boss’ job. It’s the American way.

Why not this one? How about the next, or the next, or the next?

Her time in office is not relevant in any legal sense, nor is the conjecture that she should have know which way the winds were blowing.

Is your contention summed up to read that if one is faced with a decision to participate in what is a abhorrent act made legal by a totally bogus scotus decision, to wear a wind breaker and just shut up?

Apparently you and many other self proclaimed conservatives have knee jerked on the law and order issue and blew off the constitution in the same way the Judge Kennedy did!

1 hour in the corner with a stupid hat on your heads....all of you...........

That is a stance you are all entitled to take, so far this is a free country although becoming less so by the hour.
