Yep, she's defying orders by a Federal District Court judge to comply with a ruling by the United States Supreme Court. She's in contempt of court and these are the consequences.
Because when the government starts ordering county officials to tattoo the arms of Christian dissidents, we don't want there to be any hiccups in the process.

I have contempt for the court too.
The state legislators could vote her out of office with an emergency bill if they wanted.
They can’t fire her. It’s an elected position. They can impeach hr but the Legislature isn’t in session.
Such courage. They let ZEro destroy the Constitution, Lerner walk off from horrible violations of private individuals rights . . . but this is the woman who actually goes to jail.
So you want a Kentucky sheriff to go to war with the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Kentucky?
She’s an elected official. The only ways to fire her are to vote her out in the next election, or have her impeached and removed by the State Legislature.
No other way. At this point she’s guaranteed to be reelected for life, and the Conservative Democrats who control the State House want to stay as far away from this as possible.
Only because they didn’t think it was worth it. Given events and the SCOTUS ruling ... they will think this one is worth it.
The Nazi defense of “following the laws” didn’t cut it at the Nuremburg trials. However, in the present day USA, it has been ruled that government edicts must be followed no matter how perverse. Let Christians be prepared for growing persecution by the ungodly government that recognizes no god but itself.
But there are also consequences from Heaven for such courts bowing to wickedness.
Just another rung on the ladder down to hell. This country is in decline. Baby dismemberers are protected. People who slice their dix off become celebrities. People who refuse to marry a same sex couple go to jail.
Actually, a sheriff is the highest Constitutional officer in the law enforcement chain. Feds/state can do nothing if the Sheriff wants to stop them.
What law? The supreme court doesn’t make law.
Several have mentioned it but she is elected and can’t be fired.
