REPORT: TRUMP WILL SIGN GOP LOYALTY PLEDGE

From Mike Allen writing at Politico:

A close associate tells POLITICO that Donald Trump plans to sign a loyalty pledge Thursday that would bind him to endorse the Republican nominee, and would preclude a third-party run. Trump made the stunning decision, which he has long resisted, to avoid complications in getting listed on primary ballots, and to take away an attack line in the next debate, the associate said.

Trump winning the election as a Republican can bring about big changes in the party

True. No more social conservatism. Officially, "pro-choice," and "pro-marriage equality." No more fiscal conservatism. Official support for amnesty. A center left party.

Even if he did have a “fairness clause” inserted, whether it was violated or not would have to be worked out in court. Not something you want to have to deal with while getting elected. Once you’re shut out of an election, you’re shut out. So what if a court finds, six months later, that Trump was in the right? Too little, too late. Election’s over. Bottom line is: Trump has now agreed to abide by the decisions and working apparatus of a party who despises him. They WILL screw him. The media will do their best to make it seem like a natural and normal part of the election cycle when Trump’s numbers go “down.”

Hate to be so negative. But I’m never positive about people trying to destroy me, my family, and my country. And that’s who I see the RNC as. They’re a bigger enemy to American Liberty and Sovereignty than the Dems, and that’s saying A LOT.

I’m loving this! The unenforceable paper waving by the GOP is simply a comedy of more errors to come! Trump is sticking it to them, while they dash around as some kind of show-of-force. LOL!!

I am so thankful for the MJ coverage of Trump, their easy access to him and their general political addiction. Plus, the disdain for Hillary is very noisy on the MJ set!

Thx for the ping!

I remember this summer seeing the video of Sen. Sanders being confronted by those two women from “Black Lives Manner” and I thought they were going to take him down phyiscal wise at that time. He looks fragile. No wonder Mr. Biden went to Mr. Obama to get his blessings to run. If you think the GOP is in a mess, I do not want to have to think how messy the Dems are.

Who do you think is a better negotiator....
Reince Pribus or Trump?
Bet Trump got concessions and an out....

Or...it’s a non-binding agreement....paper only

I do not think Trump will land up in the dustbin of history. Remember this is just a “piece of paper” that if the GOPe try to go after him, he can tear it up.

Take an anti-depressant. Trump has made the primary FUN again. Enjoy it with all of us. Men are men again!! Testosterone is in the very air!

Leave the small stuff, the whining and agitating to hopeless nicky.

.....”In the end, this pledge is a scrap of paper”....

Exactly right....it means nothing at all. Any candidate can choose to leave the GOP at any time of their choosing and go third party.....what’s the GOP going to do to Trump if he doesn’t keep it.....whine????

Constitutional illiteracy abounds in today's politics--on both sides.

Liberty is endangered, and the "establishment" politicians on both sides are playing games with trivialities.

Candidates and Party leaders of the Party which claims "conservatism" as its mantle meet to discuss "pledges." To what?

Do they meet to pledge their "lives, liberties, and sacred honor"? No, they meet to bind themselves to "Party."

They would do well to read President George Washington's "Farewell," in which he clearly articulated the reasons why what they're doing now is dangerous to "the People's" liberty. Here are excerpts from that warning:

George Washington’s Farewell Address
September 19, 1796

“... One of the expedients of Party to acquire influence, within particular districts, is to misrepresent the opinions & aims of other Districts. You cannot shield yourselves too much against the jealousies & heart burnings which spring from these misrepresentations. They tend to render Alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal Affection.
...

“All obstructions to the execution of the Laws, all combinations and Associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, controul counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the Constituted authorities are distructive of this fundamental principle and of fatal tendency. They serve to Organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force — to put in the place of the delegated will of the Nation, the will of a party; often a small but artful and enterprizing minority of the Community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public Administration the Mirror of the ill concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the Organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common councils and modefied by mutual interests. However combinations or Associations of the above description may now & then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People, & to usurp for themselves the reins of Government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

“... in a country so extensive as ours, a Government of as much vigour as is consistent with the perfect security of Liberty is indispensable — Liberty itself will find in such a Government, with powers properly distributed and adjusted, its surest Guardian. It is indeed little else than a name, where the Government is too feeble to withstand the enterprises of faction ...

“I have already intimated to you the danger of Parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of them on Geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, & warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the Spirit of Party, generally.

“This Spirit, unfortunately, is inseperable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human Mind. It exists under different shapes in all Governments, more or less stifled, controuled, or repressed; but in those of the popular form it is seen in its greatest rankness and is truly their worst enemy.

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages & countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders & miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security & repose in the absolute power of an Individual: and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.

“Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight) the common & continual mischiefs of the spirit of Party are sufficient to make it the interest and the duty of a wise People to discourage and restrain it.

“It serves always to distract the Public Councils and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill founded Jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot & insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence & corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country, are subjected to the policy and will of another.

“There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the Administration of the Government and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true--and in Governments of a Monarchical cast Patriotism may look with endulgence, if not with favour, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate & assuage it. A fire not to be quenched; it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest instead of warming it should consume."

I think the whole Presidential election process is a mess. Since the time the GOP thrust McCain upon us, then Romney, and now Jebbie, it is obvious that there is only the Democrats and the Democrats Lite (formerly known as Republicans) to choose from. This is why Trump is resonating so well with those of us that are sick of this crud.

To be nominated at the convention Cruz has to win 8 states, regardless of skills. That’s 16% of the states. Cruz is polling between 4% and 8% of the vote. I don’t Cruz meeting the qualification to get nominated.

With regard to skills, Cruz is the best on Social issues. Probably the strongest Christian which is no small qualification. But Cruz doesn’t understand the economy despite being policy director to the trade commission, or he wouldn’t have supported giving Obama fast track authority. And Cruz doesn’t have sufficient big organization experience. Not like Trump has with his large corporation or like the governors have. He needs that experience to be effective.

Smart move, especially since he is going to be the nominee.

It takes a lot of ammo out of their hands - and let’s HIM ask all the rest the same question.

I hopped on this weekend after finishing Coulter’s “Adios America.” Immigration is THE ONLY ISSUE of this election, the most important since 1860.

If we lose on this issue, the entire country becomes California, and we lose on every issue, forever.

It is THAT important, and there is only one guy who has displayed the sense and the guts to talk about the problem and its solution.

Read Coulter’s book, and pass it on to others on the fence.

What a wimp. He’s too chicken to run third part?

You'd like that, wouldn't you Bill? That way you get another crack at living in the White House.

Third party = Trump loss Third party = GOP loss Third party = Republic loss -------------------- He knows that, which is why he wants it. He's either a Dem, or a Pubbie consultant worried about his job.
