The birth rate among US teenagers has continued to decline, but health authorities said Tuesday that even greater strides could be made if more teens used long-acting forms of contraception.
More than 273,000 babies were born to mothers aged 15 to 19 in 2013, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
The teen birth rate in 2013, the most recent year in which data is available, was 26.5 births per 1,000 teenagers.
This was more than double that in 1991, when the birth rate was 61.8 births per 1,000 teens.

The current generation of teen girls is considerably less sexually active than the previous two, to a lesser degree, boys are also. Everyone is happy at this trend, but no one knows what is causing it. Some think that the internet plays a role, as they increasingly communicate online rather than person-to-person.
I bet this trend is not occurring in the deep hoods of the cities.

Historically, teenagers having babies wasn't a big deal.
Teen abortion rates have fallen since 1988.
So, teens are choosing their own birth control now? Did minors sometime in recent years suddenly gain the ability to consent?
How could we know that? Planned Parenthood won't report those.
I remember hearing in the early 90’s that minors were allowed to buy condoms. I don’t know about any other devices.

Liberals have taken all the fun out of it. Sex has become something you must do but the sex is grim business, lacks any romance and is often unsanitary.

That is about 7% of the 4 million total babies born in America. That number has been pretty steady for the last several years. This is not knew information. The teen birth rate issue has been the subject of census studies and articles.
The purpose of the article was to advocate for IUD use by teenage girls, nothing more.
Not discussed but social scientists have speculated that part of the decrease can be attributed to the Pregant at 16 TV shows, etc. They graphically laid out the burden of child rearing.
The only problem is, what are they looking at on the internet? Porn addiction is a big problem among teens today, especially teenage boys.
