Ah yes Edge — the other reason to despise Microsoft.
I just want IE back where my favorites are displayed and there is a menu bar and no full-screen glomming.
As far as I’ve read, IE should still be there, although I haven’t gone looking for it.
Good for them but, NO, THANKS!
Disabling the witch leaves the devil (service) running.
I installed Windows 10 on one of my computers (the other one will continue using XP, until it dies). So far, I’ve found 10 to be the least horrible Microsoft OS (going all the way back to MS DOS).
I agree about the need for ad block functionality — I only use Edge, where I know the site doesn’t have a lot of ads.
Based on what I’ve read here, I’m going to look into disabling Cortana.
I’m still waiting to be notified by MS to upgrade to W10 - and still have the “GetW10” icon that loads with each power-on.
How were you notified the W10 update was ready for you?

But she consumes much fewer resources.
Maybe I should have gone with HP(Maybe I can ask Fiorina for a good deal LOL) this PC has been nothing but problems. Two motherboard replacements, a video card replacement, and now my PC says its not activated because when they replaced the motherboard there was no code to put in to activate windows so now the old activation product key is no longer valid. Contacted Dell, they said “Maybe” they could give me a refurbished system, I told them no, wont accept a refurbished system for one that I spent almost 750 bucks on 9/16/2013 it hasnt even been two years yet, what a mess
You do realize that Steam runs on Linux natively, right? I play Civ 5 natively under Linux--no Wine involved.
I’d recommend contacting Microsoft about it- they do have alternative ways to activate software that was transferred to a different PC, which is what effectively happened when you replaced the motherboard.
I’ve quite the collection...Unknown how many would work ‘out of the box’ on Linux
But, you’ve piqued my interest. Maybe a VM instance to test it out....
Yeah—No guarantee as to how many will work, but Steam has well over 1000 Linux games.
Seriously? The whole reason Edge exists is that people are tired of the bloaty nature of IE and were moving to Chrome or Firefox. My favorites and such are all there in Edge; the only thing I use IE for is one or two sites which are hard-coded only to work with it.
However old IE is still there in W10 if you like it.
IIRC, I got a pop-up from MS.
