I went with Linux Zorin on all of my machines and have not looked back!!
typing “mstsc” in the search bar didn’t work for you?
“They changed it.”
Yup, leave to to Microsoft to do the opposite of every other software designer in the world. They actually attempt to make each version of a product LESS intuitive than the previous version.
“Amazing how willing people are to turn over every keystroke to microsoft...”
And how many people still use PCs. But then they probably also own twenty year-old British cars too. We’ve finally managed to “bury” our only PC now that we can run Parallels on our Macs. It finally got to the point where when we had to use it, it was like an exorcism to get it to run.
The Windows 10 upgrade made my machine snappier. I still use the traditional shell I used with windows 8.1 so there is no reall noticible difference.
I loaded it on my old windows 7 lap top and now can use both with stuff on the One Dive.
I think I disabled all the stuff reported to Microsoft that the libertarians here objected to so loudly.
Regarding edge..... still under study. Chrome is very much loved and switching is going to take some real benefits.
My primary dislike of edge is that I can’t change the fonts on Free Republic to Ariel and Ariel round. After viewing FR in Ariel for 15+ years, the times roman font seems unnatural. If any one knows how to change the font on edge, please let me know
Works great for me, I have updated several computers already, although I would probably have waited a few months, had my main computer not been having OS issues from the 8.0 to the 8.1 update.
I am in the IT business, and have used other OSes, tweaked raw linux installs, slobbered over Macs... and this one suits me fine.
Sounds like a Dell problem that has nothing to do with Windows. I was never impressed with Dell; Acer has been my first choice since 1993 and HP is also excellent.
Do you have a preference of 8 or 16gb memory for Windoze 10?
RE: How many OSs are there?
You have to include all versions of Windows, Apple’s MAC and Linux in the mix.
I've still got a computer or two running XP that I'm contemplating buying the upgrade for; it would just be too costly in terms of productivity to replace the computers that print labels & handle some minor media management.
Since adopting Agile methods, MSFT is moving away from the massive service pack delivery and towards more frequent updates. There’s a threshold wave that’s the closest you’ll see to a service pack coming in October.
Precisely what doomed Windows 8...
“Cortina is a memory hog with no discernible value.”
I use it in Edge for spell check, word definition, and to retrieve Wikipedia articles on something I want to know more about without having to copy and paste it into a search box.
I actually miss it when I have to use Firefox at work.
“Windows is not free; Microsoft decided to extend an update to all of their existing PAID customers to bring them to the current generation.”
Uh, paid?
Well if you say so.
Yep, it’s ‘off’ all-right....as much as any other software switch.
Just reading the EULA and ‘exclusions’, I’ll never try it outside of work (when the time comes that they ever make us upgrade). If it weren’t for Steam/games, I’d be on Linux in a heartbeat (I prob. should be dual booting already).
Even by the numbers mentioned above, Windows 7 and XP still hold onto almost 70% of the market.
Use Search and Cortina — there is a switch yuo can change to disable the witch.
Windows 10’s initial success can in part be accredited to a new Edge browser. Other reasons for its growing user base are easing privacy concerns and upcoming updates
