Obama: Climate Deniers Who Ignore Science Are on ‘Their Own Shrinking Island’

Monday night at the GLACIER Conference in Anchorage, AK, President Barack Obama attempted to isolate those who question whether climate change is man-made saying they are “on their own shrinking island.”

Obama said, “We know human activity is changing the climate that is beyond dispute. Everything else is politics.”

rising temps ALWAYS precede CO2 rises,

CO2 is rising now, when did the temperatures rise? The nearest I can tell the lag is 500-1000 years, so the rise from the Dark Ages Cold Period to the Medieval Warm Period would be the relevant rise. But that rise only caused about 5-10ppm of CO2 rise at most.

Currently CO2 is rising 2-3 ppm every year. If that was caused by past warming, there must have been warming centuries ago at the rate of 0.2 to 0.3 C per year using the ratio of 100ppm for 10C in the chart above.

If past warming is not causing the current rise, then something else is. Volcanoes are not a very large source contributing about 1/100 of what fossil fuel burning and other human sources contribute. If the current rise is caused by vegetation changes, then we need to explain why the CO2 rises and falls by 10ppm every season

That rise is when vegetation decays and releases CO2 in fall and winter and that fall is when vegetation grows in the spring and summer in the northern hemisphere (with a little lag).

I have no doubt that you know MUCH more than I about this, but I’ve read elsewhere that as a trace gas, the 400 ppm figure was total CO2, not the figure attributable to man.

Am I wrong on this?

Sorry, you are right- I misspoke- The total atmospheric CO2 stands at nearly 400 ppm- From an article dated in 1959, scientists calculated that the atmosphere had back then 2,300 billion tons of CO2 (which calculates out to roughly .03% of the atmosphere). Man being responsible for only 3.4% of that figure

Not to mention sea ice/glaciers had been GROWING In the decades that CO2 had been rising- it was only until recently when trade winds and current patterns shifted that some usually colder regions rose in temps by a percentage of a degree that glaciers began melting- Underwater volcanos also being responsible for most of the melting in Antarctic that is being blamed on man’s production of CO2

I’ve got access to reams of evidence that show that DESPITE the constant rise in CO2, temps and sea ice and core samples all show gains- not to mention reams of evidence that debunk the asinine 98% consensus claim, and reams of evidence that show natural causes for MOST EVERYTHING that is beign blamed on man’;s production of CO2
