Trump Now Out-polling Jeb 8-1 in Iowa (New Gravis Poll Trump-31.7% Carson-15.8% Bush-4.1%)

Donald Trump is maintaining a commanding 2-1 lead in the latest poll of GOP caucus goers in Iowa, and his only rival in double digits is another political novice, Dr. Ben Carson.

Former frontrunner FL Gov. Jeb Bush has tumbled into eighth place despite his $100-million bankroll.

In a Gravis Marketing poll of 507 Iowa Republicans conducted last Friday and Saturday, Trump has 31.7 percent to Carson’s 15.8 and Bush’s 4.1 percent. A Monmouth University poll released yesterday had showed Trump and Carson running neck and neck with 23 percent – much to the excitement of the GOP establishment, including Fox News Channel.

But today’s Gravis poll seems more in line with other recent surveys in the Hawkeye State, where the first caucuses of 2016 will be held five months from today on Feb. 1.

Trump is dominant across almost all demographic groups, leading Carson and Cruz among Hispanics with 29 percent. He also won a plurality among GOP voters who described themselves as both pro-life and pro-choice, those in the 18-49 age group, and Republicans declaring themselves moderate or “slightly liberal.”

Among Roman Catholics in Iowa, the Presbyterian Trump polls 40 percent to 11 percent for Carson. Bush, a Catholic convert who often claims to be guided by his faith, polled at 0.8 percent among his coreligionists.

Comparison to the Gravis poll a month ago. Looks like Carson is gaining at the expense of Walker.

You were lied to , or to be nicer, misled. The poll was if you combined their first and second place polling numbers they were tied. In other words If Trump had 20% first choice numbers and 3% second place numbers he would be at 23%. If Carson had 3% first place choices and 20% second place choices.. they would be tied at 23%.. Cute wasn’t it?

Dr Ben and Trump have been friends for decades. Job isn’t going to get him on his side. In a recent interview Ben said the private Trump was nothing like the public persona. He is one of the most considerate, kindest most generous men he knows. Trump was just another guy in the .......area. To paraphrase 0 on Ayres
I first realized during debate they knew each other. It was a brief shot of the Dr after he had mentioned Alinsky. Trump was answering a question using a reflective technique against the method. The Dr was smiling in great amusement
Quickly found a connection with ST Jude children’s hospitals and then heard the interview mentioned above on Cavuto.
Several other little things have come up since

I thought that neck and neck poll between Trump and Carson looked a little odd.

The Republican elitists are trying to push Carson to split off the Trump vote.

This morning CNN was revelling in the 23-23 tie.

Holy crap! They had to torture the hell out of *that* poll to get it to say what they wanted.

Paraphrasing Sundance over at Conservative Treehouse late last week:

Ask yourself this question: What did Carson do over the last week or so that could result in his sudden rise in the polls? What did he do differently last week that he hadn’t done in the week or two before that could account for his “moving the needle”? Did he give a major speech? Make a major policy announcement that was widely well received? Answer: No, to all of these

Having failed to take down Trump with traditional methods, the GOPe plan will now shift to building up candidates similar to Trump in an effort to siphon support from Trump. They had a choice between Fiorina and Carson and chose Carson.

That’s why you’re seeing Carson rise. The fixers failed in their first attempt to derail Trump. They’ve changed tactics and now you’re seeing the results. The game is the same (get rid of Trump) it’s just a different set of moves.

The question we should ask is: What will they do if this set of moves fails too?

Your post about the pubs in congress not supporting Cruz is a condemnation,of the cowardly spineless pubs.

BTW what makes you think the GOPe would support Trump?

So the poll showing Carson tied with Trump in IA was an outlier, as I thought.

No, it was not an outlier. It was an out-and-out-liar.

I agree, but he doesn't need him on his side to promote him and pump him up behind the scenes.

I do think they are trying to sell Carson as the nicer alternative to Trump (i.e. Trump without the negatives), then if they can take Trump out, they go after Carson to take him out next.

It will fail because why would we want somebody who is almost like Trump when we have the real deal? They still don’t get it. Trump is bringing truth and non PC and confidence and screw the establishment! Nobody does it better.

Could be an outlier. Until another poll shows the same thing, that is what it probably is.
