CNN)Have we seen the end of James Bond, the ladies' man?
Probably not, but the actor who currently portrays him would like to think his version is more of a modern man.
Daniel Craig recently told Esquire UK that he has some very specific thoughts about the character he will next portray in the upcoming "Spectre."
"Hopefully, my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic" as earlier incarnations, he said. "The world has changed. I am certainly not that person. But he is, and so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies."
Daniel Craig stars as James Bond in November's "Spectre."
It's been a decade

Liberals ruin EVERYTHING they touch...
How so? He kicks ass and is tough as nails and plays a sociopathic loner with the only thought to completing the mission.
Roger Moore’s portrayal of bond was a mixture of bad comedy writing and who can he bed down next.
Craig has no business being in a Bond movie, let alone playing the star. I can see him in an Austin Powers revival though.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT.
Hate to sound like living in the past, but every time I think there might be someone to take the place of Bogart, Cooper, Wayne, and so many more...there’s a story about the new guy that tells us “he really loves Prada.” I think Connery is in his eighties and he is still sexier than today’s losers. Young Sutherland came close and where is he?
More like Caitlin Jenner
That's why I'd like to see Bond set in the 1950's during the real Cold War. He could drink, smoke and womanize to his heart's content. Imagine if they tried to release the original Dr. No today. That iconic moment when Connery first says he is "Bond, James Bond" while lighting his cigarette would no doubt be replaced with something healthy and nutritious. Maybe he'd take a sip from a green-colored health smoothie or put a piece of nicorette in his mouth as he introduces himself..
How about Bruce Jenner?( aka Cait???)
YEP
I’d say Timothy Dalton was the worst bond ever.
“Man talk.”
Slaps Dink on the butt.
Maybe Dan can bring Bond out of the closet. Ya know after you have so many beautiful woman what else is left?-)
Well then it won’t be a Bond movie will it, it might be something else but, if, and when, the main character will not be James Bond.
Years later here ... Craig comes along and confirms my first impression of him: the wrong guy for the role in so many ways.
Bond is dead. RIP.
You expressed the problem with Craig in the role quite elequently. However I think Criag is just a symptom, showing how the concept is outdated (I agree with the poster who suggested having Bond films be period pieces), and how deeply the producers wish to keep everything PC.
What a complete wuss.
Metrosexual wuss.
James Bond as Pajama Boy.
Am man having any view a all about women is misogynistic because it is a man having a view. If there were no misogyny as PC defined there would be no naturally conceived or born children. I suppose that is the goal of liberals in general. Lots of sex but only at the woman’s initiative and no babies.
Nice, but isn’t the movie already in the can? BTW, I think Craig was excellent in Casino Royale. The next two were just OK. Hopefully Spectre regains some footing.
Ian Fleming (who also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), wrote the Bond books and in them, if Bond was a "sociopathic loner," at least he had a sense of humor regarding himself as well as others.
Fleming's Bond character was able to do what he did -- float in and out at different levels of society -- because although he was "tough as nails" (that is putting it lightly!) and capable of being brutal and ruthless, in spite of his dubious breeding he was naturally gifted with a flair for elegance, refinement, and a talent for charming folks at pretty much all levels of society. That's why "the real Bond" made such a good undercover guy in international espionage.
THAT is why Brosnan, in my opinion, made almost as great a Bond as Sean Connery (the optimum Bond). All those attributes belong to Brosnan, the ability to be exquisitely refined, self-deprecating, humorous, charming. He comes across as a sophisticated, elegant man who can still be a ruthless loner and assassin, as the "real" Bond was as Fleming conceived him.
Roger Moore may have been a bit ... well, dated or pedantic in his portrayal of that Bond, but it sure looks to me like he was having fun the whole time and so was everybody else.
Craig looks like he takes himself pretty seriously, that it's a serious job and role. There is a quality of crudeness to him that attaches permanently, and to my eye, Craig's Bond has about as much natural charm and grace as a dairy bull.
