Why? Ever since ‘The Passion of the Christ’ it is obvious that a well made, solemn religious movie makes money, lots of money. The question is, why would you destroy a Bible story like they did to Noah and expect to even recoup the investment.
The stories are by their nature time tested and well loved.
Want to make some money, do some new, reverent Bible stories.
Most Hollywood movies don’t make money. They lose money some lose lots of money. Yet, this production company NEVER loses money, they have made multiple times their initial budget over and over again.
Was there giant rock creature in this.
People are hungry for good, meaningful movies.
I think the shock is in just how badly the other movies did. This was the worst weekend of the year, by $10 million. August has become a serious dump zone.
PG-13 is the butter zone. And the vast majority of major Hollywood releases are aimed there. R’s out number the others largely because of art house movies, almost all of those are R rated, and of course make very little money. But if you throw out everything that never hit 1000 screens at the same time (the sure sign of being art house) PG-13 is the most common wide release rating.
Hollywood has proven they would rather leave money on the table than to make money off of films that undermine their progressive message and mission.
Saw it yesterday with my husband, we both loved it. Go and see it.
True. And so do several other big businesses and corporations. Latest is the PGA fiasco.
