Trump takes Nashville by storm — with one pitch no other candidate would dare use

Although Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been stretching out his lead in the polls, he’s still stumping hard and not taking anything for granted.

And a resounding straw poll victory Saturday could mean it’s paying off.

“Normally I wouldn’t say this but I need your frigging vote, do you understand that?” he told a crowd of loyal supporters in Nashville on Saturday.

Imagine Jeb Bush coming out with that? He’d get kicked out of the country club. Hillary Clinton? The feminists would figure out what “frigging” really meant, and get the vapors. Even regular-guy Scott Walker would probably never say it out loud — not into a microphone, anyway.

But Trump made it sound like a winner.

Friggen, freakin', doesn't matter. It's true, a common NYC expression. I oughtta' know (little bita' New Yorker lingo there), having been born and raised in the city, yaknowwhatImean?

If Bill Buckley were alive, he would be flaying Trump alive say: "Elect the most conservative candidate, that can win."

And that's NEVER the RAT candidate.

BTW Holmes, I don’t believe for a second he shot in the theater. Somebody from inside opened the door outside and let some heavy armed person(s) in. Holmes was given mind control substance and set up to be a scape goat for a Asses’ gun control attempt. Like Sandy Hook school shooting or Benghazi-Gate cover up!!!

Who can you believe or trust today???

Except the “they” supporting Zero and his insanity are America’s enemies. The same “they” who bitterly oppose Trump now. It’s very telling.

I know a lot of pro-military folks and some MAY support Trump but I have yet to hear anyone say they support him for his detailed plans to rebuild our military strength and that is because he has expressed no such plans.

Candidates just love to be for motherhood (at least GOP candidates) and the flag (ditto) and apple pie and hot dogs and Chevrolet and patriotism (ditto), national defense second to none (megadittoes) and religion (megadittos), all without particulars that can come back to haunt them after they have sold us the snake oil, achieved office and want to screw us over because they imagine they know better than we ever could.

Perhaps you can cure what you imagine to be my "ignorance" by telling me, among other issue specifics, Trump's SPECIFIC plans for taking SCOTUS and fedcourts back for Western Civilization, turning BATF into a toothless convenience store, bringing us back to a Reagan level 600 ship Navy, saving Social Security and Medicare, cutting the taxes of ordinary Americans for a change rather than Wall Street zillionaires, or just what he will DO to improve a Veteran's Department in desperate need of improvement. It just will not suffice for him to say he will do better than the communist in the White Mosque. Nor to claim he will be better than whatever boogieman the Demonrat crime conspiracy chooses to nominate. That was not good enough for Willard and it won't be good enough for anyone else.

The only votes I have ever been in charge of have been my own, no less and no more than you control your own vote. They call it democracy or a democratic republic.

In my distant youth, I took up a dating relationship with a young woman somewhat younger than I. I asked her if she regarded herself as "liberated." She replied immediately that she did not have to be liberated since she had never been captured in the first place.

We exist in Western Civilization. I do not quite share the passionate commitment of fundamentalist Evangelicals and Pentecostals to pour over Scripture again and again but I do recognize that anyone seeking the job of POTUS is seeking to lead Western Civilization and darn well ought to be familiar with substantial amounts of Scripture. Trump seems to think that it is enough to say that he is a sort of Presbyterian and, according to you, blows off any attempt to learn what that means to him.

No questions, not even our southern border immigration, have greater implications for our society and its future than whether those governing us believe in God, sin, virtue, heaven and hell. For the alternative see Hitler's Germany, Marxist/Leninist/Stalinist USSR and Red China, Ho Chi Minh's North Vietnam, the North Korea of the three Kims, the Cambodia of Pol Pot. America is increasingly secular because religious matters make the lowinfos's heads explode with a complexity they just cannot handle.

If demanding the specifics of Trump's or any other candidate's policy proposals makes me a "hater," I've got news for you. Our nation depends on informed voters. It ill behooves you or anyone else to demand of voters the ignorance of which you imagine you are accusing me.

I know, I know, all this talk of actual issues is just soooooo confusing that it may make your head hurt. Why can't you just elect the Rump today before he gets tripped up by all those, those, those conservatives. All they want is some boringly complex old public policy when you want emotional satisfaction and you want it NOW!

Those who oppose Trump for his lowbrow and low info campaign have not hit any walls. No votes have been counted. No delegates chosen. No electoral votes determined. Fifteen months to an election is an eternity in politics. We could not prevent Romney from BUYING the 2012 nomination but we did make Romney hit his wall and unless The Donald improves his specificity and his politeness we can help him to the same fate before (if possible) or after (if necessary) the GOP convention.

Those who yearn for a Trump presidency because it would FEEEEEEL sooooooo gooooood should bear in mind that you would be wiser to convert his skeptics than to attack us. Romney never got that message until election day.

That must be why Bill Buckley and Bill Rusher and others supported John Ashbrook's primary candidacy against Nixon in 1972. Now was it because Ashbrook could win? If you think that overused quote reflects Bill Buckley comprehensively, then you did not know him. I did know him and my wife was employed by him.

Bill was a gentleman and an elegant one and would have been appalled by Trump.

Trump is selling the conservative/populist message, and it’s killing the media and the RINOs.

Whether or not he should or will be elected, is a completely different issue.

Glad to know you had personal time with Mr. Buckley.

Mark Steyn summed up MASH well, “it was set in the Korean War, but was really about the Vietnam War, and seemed to run as long as the Hundred Years War”.

My favourite quote:

“Then there’s one thing you men will be able to say when this war is over and you get back home. Thirty years from now when you’re sitting by your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks, ‘What did you do in the great World War Two?’ You won’t have to cough and say, ‘Well, your granddaddy shoveled shit in Louisiana.’ No sir, you can look him straight in the eye and say ‘Son, your granddaddy rode with the great Third Army and a son-of-a-goddamned-bitch named George Patton!’”

Salty language indeed.

I asked my wife about what she thought Buckley might say about Trump in light of his famous quote about supporting the most conservative but electable candidate. She said: Trump is neither electable nor conservative. What's the question?

I recognize that speaking on Bill Buckley's behalf when he has been dead since 2/27/08, is an inexact science. Tempus fugit. He has been gone now for 7 1/2 years. I have every confidence that Bill's response to Trump would have been both incisive and humorous. He was 84 when he died and had every marble he was born with. He was a gentleman.

Now, political correctness had nothing to do with Bill and vice versa. Famously, in 1968 or 1972, he and Gore Vidal were hired by ABC News as commentators at the GOP convention. Vidal called Bill a fascist or a Nazi or some such and Bill got out of his chair on camera and headed in Vidal's direction saying; Take that back you GD little faggot or I'll break your jaw (or something similar). Bill was called on the carpet by PBS which broadcast his Firing Line program and demanded that Bill apologize. So Bill addressed the subject at his next show by saying: I apologize to the GD little faggot for calling him a GD little faggot. So much for PC and for apologies.

While my wife worked for Bill Buckley, his annual Christmas party at his town house in Manhattan was a cherished experience.

I understand full well that Trump's populism is killing the media and the RINOs. However, I am skeptical as to his conservatism and hope that he won't wind up killing us.

God bless you and yours!

But for the fact that death comes for us all and that the actors were mortal, MASH probably WOULD have lasted longer than the 100 Years’ War if the Hollywood left (but I repeat myself) had its way. Personally, I hope that Mark Steyn will have his chance at the gold ring. If Rush should ever (God forbid!) retire or be unable to continue, Steyn should be next in line. As always, he is right that the show was really part of the propaganda against the effort to defeat Ho Chi Minh.

thesearethetimes...:

Well, one good story begets another. Enjoy!

I attended a national convention of Young Americans for Freedom (likely in 1975) after Feckless Gerald Ford had inherited the job of POTUS courtesy of the Trickster who probably saw Ford's status as VPOTUS as Nixon's guaranty that Congress would not do such damage to America as to remove Nixon in favor of a dangerous dolt like Ford. That certainly worked out well didn't it? Even Nixon failed to gasp what enemies of our country the Demonrat Congressional majority had become after McGovern's hostile takeover of that party.

We conservatives were enraged with Nixon over the China trip, wage and price controls, devaluing the dollar, creating the Envirowhacko Protection Agency, appointing Herod Blackmun and Clueless Lewis Powell to SCOTUS, Roe vs. Wade, the SALT Treaty, detente, and many. many other issues.

Next up as (the only unelected) POTUS: Bumbling Gerry Ford. He named Nelson Rockefeller as VPOTUS, shut down the Vietnam War altogether that had cost us 50,000 young men at arms, demoralized the Gulag prisoners by snuggling with Brezhnev, continued Nixon/Kissinger cowardice in the face of Brezhnev, was willing to negotiate away our weapons advantages, was downright hostile (along with his wife Betty) to any and all social conservatives, enacted a 55 MPH national speed limit, refused to invite Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn to the White House lest we offend the soviets in the same year when Solzhenitsyn was the commencement speaker at Harvard!

One asset that Ford did have was his verrrrry lovely seventeen year old daughter Susan. Betty Ford was invited by CBS Network to be interviewed by Morley Safer. This became fodder for Bill to address the social liberalism of Gerald and Betty Ford for an appreciative and largely young male audience, eagerly contemplating Susan in spite of her ancestry.

Safer asked the clueless Betty Ford as to her views on teenaged Susan becoming perhaps involved in a sexual affair. Betty, not bright enough to recognize that this question was supposed to elicit a response from Betty that, like all fashionable and responsible parents, she would take "nubile young Susan" (as Buckley memorably phrased it) right on down to Planned Barrenhood to get a prescription for birth control pills, be fitted for an IUD or diaphragm, a supply of spermicide, and a frank discussion on the easy availability of abortion if chosen contraceptive methods failed and, of course, nary a word on abstinence.

Instead Betty said it would depend on the "qualifications of the young man." Bill asked: What qualifications might pique Mrs. Ford's interest in a young man? That he be handsome? Certainly Susan herself would be a better judge of the looks of a potential lover! That he be rich? That would seem to violate the spirit of the age of relentless equality! That he be of high social standing? Ditto! That he be a high-powered intellectual? How would Betty Ford know?

Bill Buckley wrapped up by saying that inevitably we are led to the conclusion that Mrs. Ford had not thought the matter through and that she was quite incapable of thinking the matter through. Elegantly, Bill left the bleeding corpse of Betty Ford's reputation in the gutters. We left, determined to nominate Ronaldus Maximus instead and it took two more tries but it was well worth it.

May God bless you and yours!
