"Do you think CA would comply?"

Yes. All the President would have to do is threaten to withhold federal monies from a state that refused to implement enforcement.

"Sanctuary states" would go broke fast if they didn't go along - and California is almost broke now.

I would like to share your optimism but I still envision some States would not go down without a fight.

The bill passed and it was challenged. It died in court because the then newly elected Governor refused to do his lawful duty to defend it in court.
That Gov shoul have seen jail on that.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s call for mass deportation of millions of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally . . . forced Mexican immigrants and their families to leave the U.S. over concerns they were taking jobs away from whites despite their legal right to stay.

One huge detail - and they even mention it:

The removal in the 1930s was of legal immigrants, and this is of illegal aliens. That's like ignoring the difference between consensual sex with your spouse and forcible rape by a stranger. The similarity that both are immigrants or both are sex is not enough to justify treating the two as parallel. The only moral option is to treat criminals very differently from law-abiding people.

Ann Coulter has put the lock on the door often used that the 14th Amendment even with explicit wording ‘and subject to the jurisdiction thereof’ does not in itself deny birthright citizenship to ‘anchor babies’. She correctly points out that following such wording is the explicit wording ‘and of the state wherein they reside’. As such unless the anchor baby is a legal resident of the specific State they do not have citizenship of such state or the US. Citizenship of a state is not a 24 hour given and in most cases it takes 30 days at least. As such anchor babies have to be residents of a state for at some minimum time. The parents and the parent’s government have been scamming the US and It’s citizens. Long time anchor babies are illegal aliens.
