What More Evidence Does the President Need that the VA Must Be Reformed?
National Review ^ | August 2, 2015 | David French

In the battle between bureaucrats and veterans, the Obama administration stands with the bureaucrats. Last week the White House threatened to veto the VA Accountability Act, a bill that would moderately streamline the process for firing incompetent Department of Veterans Affairs employees. Under the terms of the act, the VA secretary can’t place employees on paid administrative leave for more than 14 days per year, employees’ initial-hire probationary period is extended to 18 months, and terminated employees have seven days to file an appeal to the Merit Systems Protection Board.

But these streamlined termination provisions — which still provide far more job protection than most private-sector employees enjoy — were too punitive for the resident.

...

Yet VA employees have singled themselves out, creating and perpetuating a bureaucratic culture that redefines incompetence. It’s hard to imagine a more dysfunctional bureaucracy. The Huffington Post recently reported that “238,000 of the 847,000 veterans with pending applications for VA health care have already died.” And that’s on top of coast-to-coast wait-time scandals that literally cost lives (at least 42 facilities have been investigated) and other scandals including sexual misconduct, drug rings run from VA facilities, and thefts from dying patients. VA employees even “fail to show up for work” at a rate “exceeding every other department and agency.”

To make matters worse, the VA has been significantly overpaying its staff:

Obozo doesn't need no steenkin' evidence.
Obozo needs that money to buy votes, and veterans don't vote enough for Obozo or his Demmunist party.

NR is full of idiots, the President HAS reformed the VA, remember Sarah called them “DEATH PANELS” there are many ways to kill people who need care, delay appointments, destroy the records of those who need treatment, gas chambers.

Just look at all the money he’s saving to buy solar energy with, and take trips, increase retirement payments for congress.

Clown Prince nobama, the all-knowing, all-hating one, needs no evidence. The degenerate hates Veterans. Heck...at least 1/2 of the people “working” in the VA hate Veterans. Merrily, they will just go on murdering Veterans by neglect. But, I rest assured that the grounds are well-kept and the executive suites have great furniture.

The Huffington Post recently reported that “238,000 of the 847,000 veterans with pending applications for VA health care have already died.”
How did the Huffington Post determine that number?
Personally, I recently went to my local VA health care office (Rochester NY) for the first time in 40+ years and I have to say they treated me okay.

the VA is doing exactly what O wants
...demoralizing our younger soldiers and sailors....
killing off the old, useless ones....
and
weakening American morale and defenses

the VA couldn’t contribute more to the Obama destroy-USA program (unless it is selling the dead soldier’s body parts for “research” ?)

i AM a military veteran.

The queer mulatto hates my being alive, every lousy, stinking, single day. Rain or shine, day or night.

Here’s why. I fought, and bled, in a struggle to contain and destroy the very political philosophy that the queer mulatto holds close to his heart, i.e., Communism.

I put some of his fellow believers in their graves, and he hates my very flesh, for that reason, alone.

He knows that he cannot attend to shortening my life, with his own hands, because he hasn’t got the guts, but he IS using every bureaucrat, and every extension of any regulation and Standard Operating Procedure, in their ambiguous writings, to do the job, and keep his hands clean of it.

Thank goodness the VA has enough money to buy homosexual flags and put up flagpoles for them.

Scott Davis, a program specialist at the VA’s Health Eligibility Center in Atlanta and a past whistleblower on the VA’s failings, provided HuffPost with an April 2015 report titled “Analysis of Death Services,” which reviews the accuracy of the VA’s veteran death records. The report was conducted by staffers in the VA Health Eligibility Center and the VA Office of Analytics.

VA Expands Choice Program Eligibility, Effective Immediately.. the distance calculation change from straight-line to driving distance for the Veterans Choice Program.

If a Veteran does not remember receiving a Veterans Choice Card or has other questions about the Choice Program, they can call (866) 606-8198.

Effective immediately, VA is also changing the mileage calculation for beneficiary travel.

40 miles ?

What I don’t hear enough of - if this is what the government does to veterans, how can we expect more for the general public under socialized medicine?

Lie. Deny. Wait until they die.

Waiting for an Army to Die is an interesting book. "Rinse and Repeat" seems to be VA/Government methodology.....

“Essentially claiming that the bill unfairly singled out VA employees, the president said it would create “a disparity in the treatment of one group of career civil servants”

So get rid of the union that protects ALL government employees and get rid of the worst first. That includes the head of the executive branch.
