Jeb has a foot-in-mouth problem, and it's seriously hurting him

What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Jeb Bush has been stumping his way across the country, explaining what he would do as president. But nobody seems to understand what the heck he's talking about.

In July, he said that "people need to work longer hours" as part of an economic recovery. Then he said his remarks had been misinterpreted.

A couple of weeks later he said "we need to figure out a way to phase out" Medicare. Then he complained that critics were taking his remarks out of context.

That controversy hadn't died down when he started another by using the term "anchor babies" to describe the children of immigrants — and before long he was complaining that people were misconstruing these remarks, too.

Add to this the four different answers he struggled to give during a single week this spring about whether he would have invaded Iraq, and it's quite possible that no other person who aspires to occupy the bully pulpit has himself been bullied quite so much by the English language.

Bush comes by this naturally — congenitally, even. His brother, of course, was one of the world's great malapropism artists during his eight years in office: "Is our children learning? . . . I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family . . . Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream . . . Make the pie higher . . . Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across the country."

It’s deeper than foot in mouth (though that’s correct) - it’s who he is, a whiny establishment prissy loser. To his core.

Yeb’s problem is not communication. He communicates quite well.

I just don’t want to buy what he’s selling.

The Scary thing is if it weren’t for Trump, there’s a descent chance jeb would be in first place.

I dont know if Trump means everything he says. I love hearing it.

Meeting with Sessions was good. Picking Cruz as VP would be great.

Contrary to popular opinion, not all of Trump’s followers would go to Cruz, although I wish they would.

There are moderates and independents in that 32 percent.

Either way, the next half year should be VERY interesting .

This guy is such a sluggish awkward wonk I wonder how he ever had the energy to get elected to,rule Florida

Man the other Bushes came across as manly and even witty ( in the case of Dubya) when they were campaigning at least

Dubya lost all his Kwan in his second term, became a shell of a man

I cannot see how they will push this blob Jebster into the oval office
Maybe he is supposed to be another Romney
A man- pod who puts on a show knowing that he s a placeholder to sustain the concept we have a 2 party system, but he is not supposed to win

Trump has hurt Jeb, but I’ve said since the beginning...Jeb is going nowhere. And I believe that. I said that before the Trump phenomenon, and of course, I feel that way even stronger now as a result.

Even if jeb were leading now - he would never hold onto the lead as the field whittled down. There is just not much room for growth with him. If you don’t like Jebbie now, you never will.

Do you think Cruz would be in the top three if Trump weren’t in the picture.

That is one of the “what ifs” I cannot figure out. And I guess we’ll never know.

Trump has brought up a lot of good issues, but I would have loved to see Ted on top.

I think Trump’s voters would be dispersed but I could be wrong. Maybe they would go to Ted.

What is hurting him is that he is a Mexican first, freedom taking RINO second. There is no other side to him.

What idiot would make his first announced hire, Eric Cantor?

N'uff said.

Jeb is an intellectual and as a result, he is boring. He probably ought to do himself a favor and drop out now rather than slog through the primaries next year.

That’s a tough call. I think Cruz’s biggest supporters are cut from the same cloth...Trump, not so much. Also, with the big “anti-establishment” movement supporting Trump, Carson and Fiorina, the rest of the field all look like establishment types. May not be a fair assessment of Cruz, but he is part of this Congress and unfortunately there is “guilt by association”. Movements are like waves, they move in and sweep things away indiscriminately.

Very good analysis and I concur.

Unfortunately, it is a bad time to be a congressman.

Ted has taken a beating from the press and even though he gives as good as he gets, it’s hard to battle the networks full time.

Trump can do it because he is insane, lol. Kind of enjoying that.
