Donald Trump’s polling no longer looks like a bubble set to burst

We noted early this month that Donald Trump's lead in the polling emerged quickly and ferociously — but that it was hardly unprecedented. In the 2012 cycle, both Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich saw similar surges into the lead, only to watch those leads recede just as rapidly a few weeks later. When we looked at this a few weeks ago, the comparison looked like this:

Trump, like Perry and Gingrich, topped out at a bit above a 10-percentage-point lead. But then that lead held.

Here's what that graph looks like now:

We've increased the scale, because we wanted to add another 2012 polling surge into the mix: The final surge that gave Mitt Romney the nomination.

Maybe the Washington Post can do graphs showing how known liars do in elections ... when the peak... what happens to them... We’d like to know some stuff about Hillary too.

I don’t hang out with party insiders or DC lobbyists. Few of the folks I know said much about Newt, McCain, Perry, etc. when those politicians were at their high points.

But many people I know are talking about Trump. And it’s overwhelmingly positive. As you noted Red, Trump has staying power.

Trump’s enemies at Fox and the GOPE took their best shot in the August 6th debate. Trump withstood their attacks and now is getting stronger. Trump could shoot 20 shots close to par and just smile in the next debates. They can’t touch him... all the way primaries.

Trump has made himself immune to the typical tactics that derailed the other candidates. Any day the politically correct worms in the media and the political class lose is a good day for America. I’m for Cruz but if its Trump I’m fully ready to push the button and deliver that gold plated middle finger to Washington DC like a nuclear bomb to make their lives hell.

The article goes on to present graphs of how well Trump compares to Romney and McCain in their campaigns.

The difference is that, like him or not, Trump is not Romney or McCain.

Romney and McCain were the GOP-e favorites. And the MSM didn’t have any real problem with Romney or McCain either, as neither was that big of a threat to Obama.

This time is different. The MSM AND the GOP-e hate Trump.

I fully expect an all-out attack on Trump from inside and out. OTOH, he has faired very well from the attacks so far.

I don’t think Trump can be compared with Romney and McCain.

Trump has created something I have never seen before: broken-glass primary voters. And unlike earlier broken-glass voters, these voters aren't just voting against something, they are also voting for something -- we believe that Trump is exactly what this country needs right now, someone who has the resources to fight without becoming a slave to the CoC; someone who can battle political correctness, and win; someone who can take on the media; someone who believes in doing more than saying or trying; someone who sees the third rails of politics as an opportunity, not something to avoid; someone who looks to really tackle, once and for all the overarching problem of illegal "immigration".

Trump will win, barring something truly extraordinary.

Hosepipe..You are always trashing Trump. Cruz will be Trump's running mate. Trump is killing it in the polls and will take Cruz with him.

Cruz is dead in the polls and has NEVER ACCOMPLISHED ANYTHING! Cruz is smart enough to know this.

Thanks for saving me the typing! I was an early Cruz supporter but it is long past time for him to have made the needle move and he hasn’t.

If you believe the polls and do not know they are “MANAGED”, meaning scripted, meaning agitprop, meaning Adjusted..

You’re not up to snuf on whats happening.. AND
are a low information voter..

And are the very type of person the Pollsters are trying to manipulate..

Saying Cruz never accomplished anything.. is a statement made by MORONS.. that are Proud of being a moron..

And know ZERO (or want to know) anything about Ted Cruz..
But they indeed, so far, have a right to be a moron..
One of things that makes America great..

Hosepipe told me Cruz has a huge list of accomplishments. So I went to Cruz's website to see if I was mistake. Only accomplishment I saw was he helped with the Hobby Horse case. If he had more accomplishments then SHAME on his website builder and shame on him for not having them listed.

I like Cruz and Trump does too. These 2 together will be refreshing.

Hillary would ease drop on all, still operate her Foundation for hire and wipe all computers clean.

Trump would build a wall, bring back spirit and use common business sense to make America great again.
