Thanks for the ping and the link. It makes sense to update this old system.

I worked at the Air Defense Board in the early 80s. One of the things I noticed right off the bat was the previous five Board Presidents went to work for Raytheon shortly after retiring from active duty.

I found the “reunions” at testing sites to be quite nauseating.

Somebody should have gone to jail over the money wasted on SGT York. I read the test results.

Wasn't the Sgt. York (DIVAD) a Ford screw-up?

You are correct. IIRC, DIVAD was a major system under Pentagon oversight. The AD Board at Ft. Bliss tested lower profile weapons systems.

Nothing new here.

I was one of the original instructors who taught the Chaparral Missile System at Ft. Bliss from 1968-1970.
Also developed the lesson plans, tests, etc.

One of my associates, whom I assisted, taught the Redeye shoulder-fired IR missile system.

Lots of good memories.

Just for clarity for other readers....

The “Ford” screw-up I referred to was “Ford Aerospace” a division of Ford Motor Co., not President Ford...:^)
