The New York Times ^ | Aug, 26, 2015 | STEPHANIE CLIFFORD

For some gay activists, it had shades of bathhouse raids and gay-bar roundups from decades ago. On Tuesday, federal authorities burst into the Union Square office of the gay-escort website Rentboy.com and arrested the chief executive and several employees on prostitution charges.

Rentboy, which federal authorities called the biggest male-escort website, had been around for almost two decades, allowing escorts to pay to advertise themselves. It was well known in the gay community, hosting pool parties, dances and awards shows throughout the country. ... Mr. Walls said: “As the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, ICE is responsible for the enforcement of laws that promote the legitimate movement of people, goods and currency in domestic and foreign transactions. Our allegation with this case is that the business and its principals purported itself to be an escort service while promoting criminal acts, namely illegal prostitution.” ...

It is interesting that this raid came right on the heels of the Ashley Madison data dump. Can some people in Washington be scared of the same thing happening to Rent Boy?

‘Rentboy’? Some father, somewhere, is crying quietly in a corner wondering where his son is....

> Wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t national security implications knowing this administration.

I have worked on corruption cases in the past where politicians were known to keep the company of young men on foreign soil then act straight when they came back to the U.S. I think it’s pretty feasible the politicians could have divulged sensitive info when in a liquored up or drugged up frame of mind.

“Along with the files of the GOPe.”

Maybe Dennis Hastert for one. Probably have stuff on both sides. Would explain why we only have one party.

These files were picked up by Homeland to protect powerful people.

This is a Homeland Security case! WTF is going on? With illegals invading the country by the hundreds of thousands, with illegal committing felonies all over the country, one would think HS would have better things to do than busting a bunch of quiffs.

[perhaps. If nothing else it gives the DHS and ICE complete control over all records of this website. Paper or otherwise. No better way to keep things under wraps.]

A good tool for political or corporate blackmail.

My thoughts exactly. Homeland security should not be raiding a center of prostitution. That is the role for the states.

There’s got to be a connection to the powerful.

Even the NYT sounds suspicious. The article mentions another case of raiding another escort service, but that one was connected to money laundering and child trafficking. They point out this one is not connected to either as far as the charges indicate.

Why the Feds all of a sudden get involved in an online bathhouse?

What does this have to do with Homeland Security???

Someone VERY high up Is being protected here
Someone for whom Homeland Security would be mobilized

The day after the raid an unemployed black reporter who tweeted that he had been a highly paid escort, goes on a shooting rampage of white coworkers.

I wonder if he had worked for rentboy.com

“h Yeah, I’ve been a highly paid escort. You wish u could too. http://i.imgur.com/cNIAKVM.png

He had more revealing pics, but this Aug. 19th tweet is good enough to see his state of mind.

Conspiracy Theory #1: Coming so soon after the Ashley Madison hack and the publication of customer names, Jeh Johnson was given orders buy obama to raid the Rentboy offices and confiscate all the databases that would similarly show customer names. The information will be used by obama to: Either manipulate the presidential campaign by targeting democrat officials who were customers, or to protect himself from Michelle’s wrath - for similar reasons - and protect those senior administration officials also named.

Jurisdiction? We don’t got no jurisdiction; we don’t need no jurisdiction; we don’t got to cho you no stinkin’ jurisdiction!

There is no 'going after' I suspect. It is a complete case of CYA as directed by Der Fuehrer.

Although, I'm sure there is a trove of info to be gleaned from what was seized. Lots of free insurance for the future. I hear Valerie loves that sort of crap.
