Ted Cruz TRUMPS Megyn Kelly on unfair question, says ‘I’m not playing the media’s game’
The Right Scoop ^ | 8/25/15 | staff

Posted on 08/25/2015 7:14:01 PM PDT by VinL

Ted Cruz was asked tonight the same question BillO asked Trump last night, if he would deport two illegal parents who have children that are American Citizens. But Cruz refused to answer it the way Megyn Kelly wanted him to. She accused him of dodging the question, but Cruz responded that the question that she and other mainstream media journalists want to ask is a distraction from actually fixing the problem of illegal immigration and then explained how to fix it.

It was awesome.

Please realize that Cruz is a very, very weak man

Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it true.

I can’t believe that Sen. Cruz could not find the legal failure of the 14th Amendment to support Anchor Babies? The answer is so simple: An illegal alien is NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.

He’s an attorney...constitutional scholar.. 9 cases before the Supreme Court - winning five. And you?

I like Cruz, Walker and Trump.

Even if the optics look bad to you, we should discount anything involving Kelly.

Cruz stood up to the cromnibus bill. He has courage.

I agree with Levin that the 14th amendment is a specious line of argumentation.

Without Cruz and Trump in the mix, Kelly will neutralize the rest of the candidates.....

He will appear to act tough on security, but in the end, give in to the elites.

Meanwhile Trump in today's Iowa news conference was saying again that he would let the "good" ones back in.

That's amnesty.

I didn’t see it yet,so I’ll reserve my opinion! Cruz best bet as I’ve said before,he’ll ride on tide of TRUMP! He’s only going up in the polls as is ,Carson because of Trump! All is good so far in the getting conservatives on board! Look at it this way, Jeb and Rubio and all others are down or nonexistence!

I think many are reading the spin from the blog which is posted. I watched the interview live and was stunned how bad Cruz looked. He was actually stuttering and turning red and refused to answer her question (3 times).

It is the premise and the assumption birthright citizenship is legit that undelies Kelly’s question..

That is exactly the position Ted Cruz held in 2011, he's on the record stating at length that birthright citizenship is constitutional.

You can't unring that bell.

“Kelly totally kicked Cruz’s butt tonight.”

You must have watched the wrong clip.

Cruz is way to smart to let MK frame the argument. Trump and Carson are unwilling to allow that either which is what makes these three men exemplary.

There are others who are allowing the media and protestors to force them to answer questions that require more than a media bite. They then look weak.

However, when he had a chance on a one-on-one interview on national TV with millions of viwers to answer strongly, affirmatively and unequivocally, he failed to do so by giving a non-answer, answer.
***********

He gave the perfect answer. Hr provided, in seriatim. how he would redress illegal immigration-— and he refused to address a question that wasn’t on point.

He couldn’t answer the question about children of illegals or explain his back flip on the Constitutional issue and she called him on it.

Cruz did answer the question...It just wasn't an answer Megyn was trying to get out of him...

His answer was that more border security was necessary and when that succeeded he would move on to the issue of anvil babies (Trump's description)...

Unfortunately he let us know that building Trump's fence is not on Cruz's agenda...

I've heard nothing from Cruz about attempting to bring jobs back to America which is a major issue with Americans...Or perhaps I missed it...

Cruz goes too much by the book...Not very good at showing passion in his beliefs...

Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it true.

An example. Over the past year some California officials have stated there are between 13-16M illegals in their state. Illegals are everywhere within the lower 48.

Only a liar would believe there are 12M illegals in America.

In his interview with Kelly Cruz mentioned 12 million.

He knows the number is most definitely much, much higher but he is to weak to be honest.

Cruz has turned out to be a pandering fraud.

I wouldn’t take it that far. Cruz performed quite well a few weeks back on when he was badgered in an interview on Univision about illegal alien policy and he turned it back on Jorge Ramos asking him “What does Mexico do with illegal aliens?” to which Ramos replied “Mexico deports them”.

Ted is not saying what he will do specifically with illegals but he is clear that a wall will be built and control of the border will be achieved. He says what we do with illegals is not important until we have a wall and a secure border. And he’s right. Deported illegals come back all the time, many times. Without a wall and border security what we do with illegals doesn’t matter.

Trump is more direct. “They got to go” is Trump’s line. The illegal lobby is going nuts that Trump should say that.

The way Trump handled Ramos in the press conference today in Iowa is a perfect example of how he ill treat all illegals. Ramos got up out of turn and started screaming and Trump told him to sit down. When Ramos kept on ranting Trump gave a strong look to the side stage and a security person came out and ejected Ramos from the room.

This is the way you handle foreigners who break the rules, break the law. You let security do their jobs and get them out of there.

Later, Trump let Ramos come back in and ask questions and when Ramos tried to take over the press conference by making statement after statement Trump said “Listen to me!” and once again laid down the rules; you ask a question, I give an answer. You don’t take over my press conference. Finally, he got Ramos to admit that Trump was right and Trump said “You see, we get along, you agree with me and we are going to have a lot of press conferences together”.

All this was perfectly in line with what Trump has been saying, that he will get the illegals out of America so fast it will make people’s heads spin AND the illegals can go back, get their proper papers together and come back in legally and they can make a lot of money if they do everything the legal way, no exceptions. And that is exactly how he handled Ramos today. Although Ramos is not illegal, Ramos was breaking the rules of the conference and so Trump handled him exactly as he would an illegal border crosser; get him out, let him come back legally and lay down the rules for him to follow.

We can see why Trump is so successful. He knows how to manage people, set the tone and lay down the rules for everybody to follow.

The ticket must be Trunp/Cruz because there can be no margin for error in losing to the democrats. Together they can win most assuredly. Individually, it’s a roll of the dice.

Trump is nothing more than the Don Rickles of the political set. Everything he spouts is soundbites and insults. Baffles me that FReepers could be snookered by this Trojan Horse of a candidate.

If we’re going to play the quote game from 3 years ago, then here’s Trump calling Romney and GOP “mean-spirited” and “maniacal” for wanting to deport millions of illegals

Good point. That was very telling. It clearly shows that Cruz will do nothing to truly secure out border.

Trump has repeatedly stated he wants a wall, not a fence.

A wall once up it is difficult to take down.

Biometrics and drones can be swept aside easily.

Shallow and weak by explaining exactly the proper way to do it legislatively? As nearly half of the illegals overstayed their visas, it makes more sense than just building a wall (though that should be part). Please just keep in mind that if we elect someone who just acts like Obama with his own pen and phone, the next person can just wave his magic wand to undo that. It has to be done legislatively.

I certainly expect Trump to come out after winning and say that he's learned from some smart people and they think the things he said during the campaign won't work and he'll do none of it. But I understand it nice to see someone flip the card table over once in a while.

I think the answer is probably “No”. I don’t see how our country can deport people legally declared citizens.

Yes. He should have said....yes, and they are more than welcome to take the child with them and then it may return when it’s 18. Then use that scenario to explain exactly why the anchor baby misinterpretation is wrong and should be applied correctly so that these problems do not arise in the future.
