Lindsey Graham excoriated Republican presidential rival Donald Trump on Tuesday morning for his immigration plan, calling it both “stupid” and “illegal.”
In an interview with “Fox & Friends,” Graham addressed Trump’s immigration proposal, which would call for the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, revoke birthright citizenship from the children of immigrants who came to the United States illegally and call for the construction of a wall along the United States’ 1,900-mile long border with Mexico.
“Well, Donald Trump’s plan on immigration is stupid,” the South Carolina senator said. “It’s illegal.”
If you try to deport American-born children of immigrants who came to the country illegally, “you’ll get creamed in court,” he added.
Most Hispanics, Graham remarked, find Trump offensive.
“I find him offensive,” he said. “His solution is just constitutionally flawed. It’s not practical.”
Graham also took aim at Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus who in an interview over the weekend said that Trump is a “net positive” for the party.
“I think that’s dumb, too,” he said.

I looked up operation Wetback. It was an unmitigated PR disaster, and it ran into the problem that deported mexicans would just cross back over into the US again. What few successes it had were because the Mexican government (who largely initiated the program) were very supportative of it. That is not the case anymore, and it unlikely to be so for quite a few years.

Do you ever consider that here in America nearly every home has running water, electricy, many have central air. Most family have at least one car, A fridge, microwave, a tv, a laptop, smart phone. You can run to the store and 99.9% you will find whatever food item you want.
What seems almost impossible is that someone could live in the US of A , know even a speck of our history, would say a 1900 mile wall is impossible?
Yeah, sure it took China 500 years to build the Great Wall. The Great Wall is 10 time bigger than the US/Mexico border.
So, devide 10 into 500. Now, we are down to 50 years.
Okay, the Greatwall was build by hand.
In modern times we have huge machinery. Machinery they can cut down trees and carry them away. Bulldozers the size of a house. We also have Pre-fab.
Now our wall, 30 foot tall and 3 foot thick?, is taking maybe 5 years?
How much does it cost?
How much does it cost to put illegal invaders on American dole? How much does it cost in all the other “free” services. Healthcare and Schooling?
How much to put illegal alien criminal, who should not be here, in jail?
How much does it cost in lost jobs?
Impossible you say? I say you are impossible!

And the answer is very simple. The cost of a buy out could be quantified, the cost of a war, couldnt. In the same way, the cost of a wall can be quantified. The cost of all the problems of illegal aliens (which I grant is probably far higher), isn't. In any case you would never be able to build a wall so strong it could not be breached. Anything built by man can be circumvented by man.
Not that it matters because the issue is not technical. I'm sure that if America put its mind to it it has the money and the skills to build a stupendous wall. The problem is whether the political will to do it exists, and I'm quite sure it doesnt. People on the southern border might think differently, but not in the country as a whole. The political fallout from such a project would be immense. America's enemies, domestic and foreign, would make capital on such a wall forever.
The sad part is that you go on about all the wonderful things America has created and all the wonderful things you enjoy, not realising that it is those very riches that attract all these illegals in the first place! If you really want to stop the flow of illegals, you have to address the disparity in wealth and opportunity that creates the pressure for people to enter illegally. Either you adopt the Barack Obama solution of making America a poorer and less attractive place to be, or the capitalist solution of making Mexico a more attractive place.
Silly European thinks we give a damn what they think. In an entire year I spend about 20 minutes thinking about Europe, most of that is Putin.
Or you could make them learn English and get them to embrace being Southern USA. That’s the traditional American solution to mass immigration. It worked with English, Irish, Germans, Poles, Scandinavians and even with African-Americans, before folk like Sharpton realised they could make a fast buck out of race-baiting. I would say the desarity is due to a corrupt government. Mexico can not even maintain a reliable train let alone compete with America. Still, not our problem. While America is still better than any place on earth we have our own ethical and financial mess staighten out. Although, we should be open to trade with Mexico.
