Ted Cruz Teams With Pastors To Defund Planned Parenthood (50 State Campaign)
Brody File ^ | 8/23/15 | David Brody

Senator Ted Cruz will hold a nationwide conference call for tens of thousands of pastors this Tuesday August 25th in an attempt to begin the process to defund Planned Parenthood. Working with the American Renewal Project, he’s recorded a video invitation for the event, which was sent out to an influential list of 100,000 evangelical pastors. Watch here. Below is the specific invitation from Cruz:

Dear Pastor,

The recent exposure of Planned Parenthood's barbaric practices of harvesting the body parts of innocent babies and selling them to the highest bidder has brought about a pressing need to end tax payer support of this institution.

As the son of a pastor, I know you bear a high and holy calling on your lives. I am urging you to confront this evil in our nation by praying and preaching with an unbridled passion until funding for Planned Parenthood ends, and this barbaric practice is purged from the land.

Over the next two weeks, with the support of your prayers and the impact of your preaching, I intend to lead an effort to end taxpayer support of Planned Parenthood.

The battle we face is not political. It is spiritual. To enter this arena in a prayerless condition invites failure. May I ask...

1. Join me for a Pastors Conference Call on August 25th to hear how you can be a part of this effort.

2. Preach a message on August 30th calling on your people to enter into this spiritual battle for the soul of their nation.

3. Lead your people in a "Day of Prayer and Fasting" on September 9th as thousands of churches call on God, during their Wednesday night services, to move in the hearts of men and women in government to vote to end the slaughter of the innocents.

These days are challenging. Those who have faced similar challenges did so with the courage of their convictions. When Esther was called to stand on behalf of her people, she was reminded that her life was not her own, and that God had placed her at a critical point in history do be an instrument for the protection of the innocent. May we be found as faithful as she, "For such a time as this."

God bless America and God bless America's pastors as they lead the way to the healing of this nation.

Senator Ted Cruz

Cruz also points pastors toward an outline they can use for specific sermon notes when preaching about this topic. Read here.

Look folks, these undercover Planned Parenthood videos have clearly woken people up to the horrors of the abortion industry. Still, defunding Planned Parenthood is no easy task. Cruz and leaders at the American Renewal Project strongly believe that pastors must take the lead on moral issues like this and many of the other cultural issues of the day. It’s a two-fold process: first, speaking out from the pulpit and second, getting those in the pews motivated enough to pick up the phone and call their local congressman. “We the people” must rise up before politicians will listen closely.

Cruz and ARP hope for a Christian onslaught of activity on this issue led by the pastors. They’ll have some help. That’s because major Christian media outlets will be promoting the message as well. They include the Bott Radio Network, the American Family Radio network and the National Religious Broadcasters.

On separate political note, let me just say that I have observed Cruz up close when he’s speaking to evangelical audiences. He captivates them with his substance and style. He really does have the perfect mix of both. And evangelical voters are telling me that they love his passion and conviction. He’s going to be a serious player in this presidential nominating contest way past Iowa. He has the money, street cred and resume to seriously compete. And you can be sure there will be plenty of pastors lifting him up in prayer.

"It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776. In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation, but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself. Muhlenberg's text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, 'To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted...'"

"Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, 'In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.' As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, 'There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!' Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform."

"Marching to the back of the church he declared, 'Who among you is with me?' On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg. They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty."

"Frederick Muhlenberg, Peter's brother, was against Peter's level of involvement in the war. Peter responded to Frederick writing, 'I am a Clergyman it is true, but I am a member of the Society as well as the poorest Layman, and my Liberty is as dear to me as any man, shall I then sit still and enjoy myself at Home when the best Blood of the Covenant is spilling? ...So far am I from thinking that I act wrong, I am convinced it is my duty to do so and duly I owe to God and my country."

A Christian who isn't politically active is no Christian at all.

This is hugely significant. We shall see the temperament and faith of our nation as an outcome of this.

If Cruz can grab the Christians, and if Trump can grab the Reagan Democrats, and if they team up, then Katy bar the door.

Defunding Planned Parenthood is only a beginning at best and seems like an emotional wedge issue that stops short of stopping the killing.

The release of the videos has led to this issue being brought up, but when it comes to PP 54 million Christians blocking the entrances to their buildings would be a very effective move.

I don’t need emotional wedges to suck me into supporting a politician.

I already support Ted Cruz and send him $.

Honestly, I don’t think he’s attempting to create a wedge issue, as much as a movement to counter the secularism.

“You wonder why we have a federal government that comes after our free-speech rights, that comes after our religious liberty, that comes after life, that comes after marriage, that comes after our values,” Cruz said Friday, blaming that state of affairs again on the 54 million evangelicals who stayed home during the 2012 presidential election.

“I’m here to tell you, we will stay home no longer,” Cruz said.

"54 million Christians stayed home last election" --- Ted Cruz

I voted for Romney as the better of the two alternatives on offer. But does anyone believe he would de-fund Planned Parenthood?

Or would he be like some of the Repubs who want to only de-fund the bad parts while continuing to fund the supposed "good" parts...?

In any case, Go Cruz!! Its about time someone took this seriously. They're chopping up babies and selling the meat. This shouldn't even be an issue of funding, but felony prison time.

Ted Cruz needs to continue his effort to defund the Planned Parenthood baby butchers, but more than that, he needs to promise to PROSECUTE them for every law that they have broken, starting with murder.

Cruz is the ONLY real conservative in this race AND who can also win the Presidential election. There is nothing buffoonery about him.

Good and bad. Is Cruz running for president or not? He seems to be tilting at windmills and so far has failed every effort. I hope he’s more successful at defunding Planned Parenthood than he has been with Obamacare. Yes, I realize he’s trying to find a niche as he hasn’t found national traction and is overshadowed by Trump. Had he been more transparent on illegal aliens and also not wanted a 500% increase in H1B, maybe he’d be in a different position. Heck, Walker now mimics Cruz in not wanting to talk about what to do with illegals already in the U.S. Instead, Trump is clear and we see the even clearer result.

The Trump koolaid kids are doing anything they can to discredit Cruz. Wish JimRob would realize that Trump is no different than Gulliani except louder and more obnoxious.. Check their positions..... There isn't that much difference outside of border security.

I for one am supporting a true conservative.

Patience- I need not remind you that Sen. Cruz has told us not to criticize the Trumpets— they are Ted’s future voters; unfortunately, even the juvenile and obnoxious ones.
