As marathon talks continue, Koreas ready their militaries for conflict
Washington Post ^ | 8/23/15 | Anna Fifield

Representatives from North and South Korea held a second day of marathon talks Sunday — stretching more than 16 hours — as they tried to find a way to resolve escalating tensions that had both sides threatening military action.

But even as the talks continued, the South reported that more than 50 submarines from the North appeared to have left their bases and that troop numbers had been doubled on the northern side of the demilitarized zone that separates the estranged neighbors. Meanwhile, South Korea brought six fighter jets home early from drills in Alaska.

Still, the fact that the talks were continuing was positive, analysts said.

Looks like the commies are finally out of food for the army and have to go “foraging”.

Yup.
The ROKS Cheonan, it was classified as a “corvette”.
Blasted in half.

There is not much middle ground when it comes to war between the Koreas. It is either a little bit of shooting back and forth or absolute Kaboom! Something like 20,000 missiles are readied and aimed at Seoul.

I believe the big worry should be the massive stockpile of chemical weapons the North has that can be deployed using their artillery.

The real threat is missile and artillery sites in range of millions of S Korean citizens (not to mention out 28,500 US troops stationed near the border).

Yes, we can knock out those sites, but many will die both mil and civilian before it is done.

Those subs can also mine waterways, and there is a rumor a nuke can be carried on one for a suicide mission.

Elite indeed to get enough food that they have to be concerned about their weight. As an alternative, couldn’t they just say they are emulating Dear Leader by getting fat? No, I don’t suppose that would work.

I read some Tweets saying landing craft and amphibious troops were sent south to the line by the North.

My point is that why are we paying for the security of Korea, Japan, Germany, etc. All those lost brethern and wasted time overseas. Let these countries pay for this security, if not, bring all our troops home. That will make these countries think real quick about what is important.

Chances are the North Koreans will sink a couple South Korean ships and artillery barrage several South Korean towns.
The South will respond by firing back but missing most of what they shoot at, then pay Kim Jr. a big bribe and all will be forgotten until next time.

Trump brought up that very subject when he was in Alabama.

It made sense to our leaders in the 50s and 60s, but times are different now and a re evaluation of our world leadership position (or lack there of) is overdue.

“Let’s end this, once and for all.”

The 10,000,000+ residents of Seoul disagree.
Every version of “end this” involves several million people getting killed in about a half hour.

Something is going on my Son who is a CPO and in communications in HI, was going to be home early yesterday for his Son’s birthday party but could not go because “There were communications issues”. Which he could not go into because of security issues! My guess it’s due to those meatheads in Korea!
