Presidential candidate Donald Trump hosted an event last night in Alabama that saw between 18,000 and 20,000-plus people in attendance.
Roll tide, apparently.
During his speech, “the Donald” mentioned how he is a big fan of Oreo cookies, but will refuse to ever eat them again since Nabisco plans on moving to Mexico.

“You know, Mexico is the new China,” Trump told the crowd, referencing the recent decision by Nabisco to move its factories there.
“I love Oreos. I’ll never eat them again. Okay? I’ll never eat them again,” Trump said. “No, Nabisco closes the plant, they just announced a couple of days ago, in Chicago and they are moving the plant to Mexico. Now, why?”
“I don’t blame China. I respect them,” Trump said. “I’m not angry at them. I’m angry at our leaders for being so stupid. I’m not angry at China.”
Oreos — more specifically, Nabisco — caused the ire of the billionaire presidential contender after the company announced its decision not to invest the $130 million for a factory upgrade and will move production across the county’s southern border into Mexico. Nabisco also recently shut down its Philadelphia factory in an effort to expand factories in Virginia and New Jersey, although union members believe their jobs will eventually be outsourced to Mexico as well.
You know things are bad when American workers fear losing their jobs to outsourcing in order for the company to employ cheap laborers.
He’s not wrong about China. What the communist nation is doing is capitalizing on the weakness of current American leaders. They’re taking advantage of a flaw in our highly liberal system that disincentivizes making money.
What would be great about a Trump presidency is that he will not kowtow to any foreign land, and will always put the American people first. There won’t be an Obama-like Middle East apology tour under Trump, that’s for certain.

The US trades with other countries. Any tariff we impose on them will be imposed on us.You are missing the point that they already are.
China routinely interferes with US goods entering their country. Why aren't you proclaiming that everyone will match China's interference?
For example, each June China blocks all US films from playing in China in an attempt to prop up their own internal film industry.
Our politicians (both liberals and conservatives) are in the pocket of donors that profit from cheap foreign goods and labor.
Government has made American labor very expensive. It has done this via taxation, regulation and lawfare (particularly through deep pockets-doctrines). Our education establishment does little to teach the fact that free markets make the consumer king. They teach socialism and so you have the public largely indoctrinated against business and biased in favor of claimants no matter what the facts.
Here’s a true story: a woman who’d worked for a company for 28 years developed MS. She asked for an accommodation under federal law. The corporation didn’t make the accommodation and were in fact pretty unfair with her. They fired her. At the time of her firing her salary was $48 grand a year.
She took the ‘violation’ up with the EEOC. She laid claim to two additional years of pay. What did the company owe her? They were jerks for certain and made little effort to accommodate a person who up until the time of the manifestation of her disease had been a good worker. The EEOC found a violation of federal law and the arbitration granted her $2 million dollars, plus attorney’s fees. The feeling was that they really needed to be punished. Is that a fair settlement?
We have these debates and some are very confident that plants move for the reasons they believe to be the cause. But we seldom have any actual cost figures to go on other than comparative labor costs in various nations.
Sugar wholesales for $.27 per pound. You know Nabisco and other large users buy it by the carload. How much sugar can be in a pack of Oreos that retail for around $3.00?
There are always several areas where companies save when moving to a cheap labor nation, but I'd bet that labor and labor overheads are the biggest savings for most all firms, including those making cookies and candy.
It would seem that SS or some disability insurance carried by the company would have kicked in automatically when someone develops MS. That I don't understand.
What sort of accommodation did she ask for? Some set up at work so she could continue working? Need more detail?

They decided that losing two years of work and the ‘aggravation’ of not getting her accommodation was worth $2 million. We don’t need more details.
The government gave her a windfall the equivalent of 41+ years of work. Who pays for that? The American worker.
Yes, we need to know how simple or complicated, and the expense involved, it would have been to provide an accommodation, and whether she could actually have continued to perform satisfactorily.
