Blue Bell to Unveil First Flavor to Return to Stores

With each passing day, Texans are another step closer to enjoying one of their favorite treats. Blue Bell Creameries is expected to have ice cream back on some store shelves by the end of the month, and on Monday the company will reveal the first flavor customers can expect.

Blue Bell recalled all of its ice cream products and halted production earlier this summer after listeria contamination. Blue Bell will return to store shelves in 15 states through a five-phase distribution plan. Up first, ice cream produced at the company's Sylacauga, Alabama facility, will first hit store shelves in Brenham, Houston and Austin, along with Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama.

Blue Bell Returns to Some Store Freezers on Aug. 31 Dallas-Fort Worth and southern Oklahoma are part of the second phase of distribution and will have to wait a little while longer -- the company has not said when Phase 2 distribution will begin. According to Blue Bell, its Alabama production facility began producing ice cream in late July. The facilities in Brenham and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma are still undergoing facility and production upgrades and are not yet producing products.

So Texans - how good is Blue Bell ice cream?

I am a New Englander and we eat a lot of ice cream around here. I think we eat more ice cream than anyone else in our country.

I sure love good ice cream. Remember making it a few times when we were kids.

Very curious about what you folks think of Blue Bell!

It's a Conservative, Texas-owned company, despised by the left. That's why it's plausible that hussein was behind this case of sabotage. Recall that the regime also planted the ebola scourge here. And he's doing the same with cratering the Texas oil industry.

The homemade vanilla flavor truly tastes like homemade vanilla.

Blue Bell was the first to put Oreos in vanilla ice cream.

It is my kids favorite.

I remember our old country home Clean fresh air and the flowers growing In the fields, along the path, beside our swimming hole Momma hollering through the screen Would you kids like some homemade ice cream? That was such a simpler time and place Blue Bell tastes just like the good old days.

I grew up with hand cranked homemade vanilla ice cream. My grandparents had three hand cranked machines where the grandkids would take turns turning it, pouring ice and salt around the metal container, and poking the drain hole to keep it clear for the water to run out.

It was a lot of work, but the homemade vanilla ice cream was so incredible, it was worth it.

Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream tastes exactly like that.

I think they should start with vanilla and work up from there.

Speaking for my family (including my 90 year old dad),there just any ice cream greater than Blue Bell. People were really standing in front of the ice cream case in the store,as if Blue Bell would magically appear. Most people I know will only eat Blue Bell.

Blue Bell was the best 40 years ago. They changed the quality 20 years ago so it’s no better than store brand at twice the price. No thanks.

See #16. The original family owners sold out. The taste is now blah. Not what it’s cracked up to be.

Do you think the use of high fructose corn syrup contributed to that?
