An online petition asking the British government to arrest Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on war-crimes charges when he visits London in September has gone viral, garnering more than 74,000 signatures so far. The petition has already passed the 10,000 signature threshold that generates an official response from the government. And it’s likely to pass the 100,000 signature mark that could trigger a debate in the House of Commons.
The petition states that “Benjamin Netanyahu is to hold talks in London this September. Under international law he should be arrested for war crimes upon arrival in the U.K [sic] for the massacre of over 2000 civilians in 2014.”
The British parliament’s website says that petitions “which reach 100,000 signatures are almost always debated,” but the government may choose to not hold a debate in the Commons “if the issue has already been debated recently or there’s a debate scheduled for the near future.”
While that caveat isn’t applicable in this situation, members of Parliament may decide anyway not to debate this particular petition. The Israeli Foreign Ministry dismissed the petition, calling it “a public relations stunt with no practical significance.”

With several billion persons occupying space on the Earth, one could get hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) to sign a petition stipulating that Leftists as a whole are responsible for significantly reducing the quality of life for all of humanity. So what?
Where is the petition to have British leftists gang-raped by the growing British muslim population.

One thing I’ve learned from Facebook, Brits are unutterably obsessed with petitions. There’s ten a day, usually about some fox that got caught in a trap or a hare that was eaten by a silly twit. What a strange country.

74,000 seems like a rather small percentage of Muslim immigrants have signed thus far.
They’re really going to have a caniption when he is forced to nuke Iran.

Many in all U.K. political parties are anti-Israel—not only the leftists.
More and more I am questioning the need for political leaders to ever leave their country. This is why leaders have secretaries of state and foreign ministers.
I would like a US president to come out and say that during his term, he will not leave the US, because there is nothing he could do in another country that he cannot do here, or delegate to a representative. It is much like the president flying over a disaster area in a helicopter—it accomplishes nothing. But it wastes a heck of a lot of resources and time.
The POTUS doesn’t even need to make a State of the Union dog and pony show. He can send it to congress in writing. The last POTUS to do that was Jimmy Carter, because he was so unpopular. But by deciding to send it in writing, he probably saved the government $50-100 million and two weeks of wasted time.
There is no reason for Netanyahu to go to Britain, except to aggravate leftists. And he has other, far more important things to do.
