Donald Trump may have the whole Republican field talking about immigration, but early-state insiders wish he would just stop.
Seven in 10 Republicans said theyve heard more than enough about Trumps plan, which includes a controversial call to end birthright citizenship, according to this weeks POLITICO Caucus, our weekly bipartisan survey of the top operatives, activists and strategists in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Trumps plan calls for an end to policy that guarantees citizenship for children born in the United States to illegal immigrants. Thats one of several controversial provisions under Trumps plan, which is particularly galling to New Hampshire GOP insiders 85 percent of whom said the real estate mogul and current GOP front-runners immigration plan was harmful to the party.
Nearly two-thirds of Iowa Republicans said the same.
Hes solidly put an anchor around the neck of our party, and well sink because of it, an Iowa Republican said of Trump.

I wonder what Basement Pajama boy thought this BS UP!-)
Right, the upperclass twits are smarter.
More brave GOPe Sir Robins heard from, Politico.
Bravely run away now, you clucking chickens.
Can you hear us now, GOP-e?
Feds also tax fuel at the pump.
I think it is at 18 cents per gallon the last time I remember.
“Democrats will willingly cross over to caucus/vote for Trump in the primary.” ————
I believe that too.
In his first face to face tonight in the South, I expect to hear him speak to minorities. I know he has jobs on paper, and has spoken to jobs, but when he drives it home, face to face with blacks and Hispanics, that is a corner turned that Republicans have been loathe to even approach.
It is high time someone with an R behind their name reached out past Anglos and drew in blacks and Hispanics. We know already they are not all La Raza types and Al Sharpton clones.
OK, I'll see that and raise you a
"GOP Base to GOP insiders: STFU already, you've been screwing up for close to 30 years and we have had enough! Keep it up, and we'll leave - YOU'RE FIRED!"
If the GOP had listened to us, they wouldn’t have a Trump problem, nor would we have a GOP problem..
“He is decimating political correctness... “
Even if that is all he accomplishes, then he will have performed a great service.
I do think he will do far more, what the results will be remain to be seen.
I easily see a Trump/Cruz ticket in the general election.
Absolutely
Not to be contrary but it is only a misdemeanor. Sad but true.
I am going out on a limb here and saying Cruz will not be on the ballot in either position, but I have said that all along in spite of his popularity here. I don't come to that opinion based on his qualification but on a history of a vain electorate. If Ted was in Rubio's body he would be a shew in, sad commentary I know.
I in no way foresaw the Trump phenomena and remain dumbfounded by his inability to speak in single sentences. I hoped that Cruz would learn something from the groundswell of support Trump has generated but I don't think he has. Rush sort of said the same thing today.
Six months ago there is no way I would have though of myself as voting for Trump, now I could.
And you will get no life preservers, just do the country a favor and die already so we can have a real opposition party for the first time since 1995.
The face of the people and countries real enemy and poster boy for bribery and corruption.
How's the current open borders policy working now Mr. Iowa Republican? Stop the appeasing of the hispanic vote! If something isn't done to change things soon it won't matter anyway.
If Trump gets the nomination, at this point no surprise, I think he will go with the best person for the spot.
Trump needs someone like Ted who has the knowledge of the constitution, and he’s smart enough to know that.
Sadly we live in an age where appearance means too much.
But, there still may be enough of us who look beyond appearance and soundbite campaigning to find a place for someone like a Ted Cruz.
Anchors away, my boy...
A lot of Americans have been misled to believe that the illegal or legal alien has a constitutional right to drop an American citizen on our door step. Actually, foreigners don’t have the constitutional rights written for the American citizen. They are foreigners and so are the children they produce without an American involved.
To all GOP-e and their wimped-out PC supporters: Take a hike, you bums. Who cares what you suggest?
To the GOP: Die already.
