Clinton targets student debt despite past coziness with Sallie Mae, loan industry

Hillary Rodham Clinton last week made a pitch to attract young voters with her plan to ease student loan debt, but the move glosses over her past coziness with the loan industry and the deregulation enacted under the Clinton administration in the 1990s that have contributed to today’s soaring student debt levels.

The front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination wants to cut interest rates on student debt, which has spiked in the past decade to more than $1.2 trillion. Big banks and Sallie Mae, the student loan agency formerly run by the federal government, hold much of that debt.

As a freshman senator from New York in 2002, Mrs. Clinton was eagerly promoting Sallie Mae and its debt collectors.

This woman is the biggest fraud and liar to ever hit the campaign trail. How people could vote for her is beyond my comprehension. I guess it just shows you how stupid some Americans really are.

Her slogan should be, “No New Ideas!”

That is all we’ve seen of her so far an that is rather lame.

Actually, this is how she will win the Election. There’s so much outstanding student loan debt out there, that if she says she’ll pay it off, she’ll get the votes.

contributed to today’s soaring student debt levels.

In turn contributing to soaring college costs, in a predictable cycle.

As bad a shape as the country was in in 2012, Baraq basically won re-election by dispensing gravy, with record numbers on food stamps, TANF, section 8, obamaphones, medicaid, etc.

As long as the markets don’t puke up the fake money, Democrats are free to win via this method.

Just wondering how the young hard working blue-collar folks feel about subsidizing through their tax dollars the effete collegians?

And if you are in any of the following groups, for example, you get treated as suckers:

1) Paid your way through school.
2) Took a student loan but paid them off, perhaps ahead of time.
3) Took a student loan but then tried to save money by paying it off with an equity loan or similar.

my local brewpub/eatery has a fairly high turnover of those in and out of college, 90% of which whine about studloans and no jobs.

when questioned, 90% of them have/are going for BS degrees in BS!

my favorite girl there never complained, worked her azz off and lived with two other girls, she has a degree in chemistry from Temple and never got less than a 30% tip

last year she found a local job on craigslist of all places for a very hightech company that subcontracts for NASA, AirForce Research Lab, Argonne Nat Lab and the like

the only person happier that she got that job than her, was me... we still keep in touch and i lover her to death for her hard work and perseverance

she will pay her own studloans without any help from anybody let alone a handout from the gooberment

Shameless pandering. Her beard properly suggested it.

Will the bailed out college grads be forced to forfeit their degrees?
